Teichmann to become new Sharks boss

Cape Town - Former Springbok and Sharks captain Gary Teichmann is set to replace John Smit as Sharks CEO.

According to Rapport, the appointment is likely to be ratified on Monday, but an official announcement will only be made at a later stage because several of the Sharks board members are currently overseas.

It is believed that Teichmann, who played 42 Tests for the Springboks between 1995 and 1999, has great support among former Sharks players and businessmen in Durban.

The 49-year-old has forged a successful business and is a director at Teichmann Plant and Civils.

Smit will leave his post as CEO in October.
