Sunwolves rest skipper for Stormers clash

Cape Town - Sunwolves coach Mark Hammett has decided to rest his captain, Shota Horie, for their Super Rugby clash against the Stormers in Singapore on Saturday (kick-off 13:55 SA time).

Takeshi Kizu replaces Horie at hooker in one of three changes to the side which lost to the Western Force last weekend.

Horie, who played a full 80 minutes in all of the Sunwolves' previous matches, has been named amongst the reserves, which means centre Harumichi Tatekawa takes over the captaincy.

The only other alteration to the forwards sees Timothy Bond taking over from Hitoshi Ono in the second row.

This will be Bond's first match since serving a four-week suspension for a late and high tackle on Stormers fullback Cheslin Kolbe in the corresponding fixture in Cape Town in Round Seven.

The final change is in the backline where Atsushi Hiwasa comes in for Kaito Shigeno.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
