Cape Town - Stormers centre Huw Jones has been added to Scotland's touring squad for two Tests in Japan in June.
Jones was named as an addition to the squad on Friday after Finn Russell sustained a head injury in a Pro12 match last weekend.
Jones, 22, was born in Edinburgh but he has been a part of Western Province and the Stormers since 2014 after having turned for the UCT Ikey Tigers before then.
When he moved to South Africa in 2012 for a gap-year, he had no intention of pursuing a career in professional rugby.
Scottish Rugby announced the news via their Twitter page on Friday.
Jones, who has been ruled out of this Saturday's clash against the Cheetahs at Newlands with a toe injury, was ecstatic about the call-up.
"I’m delighted to get this opportunity to play for Scotland. It’s a dream come true," he told Scottish Rugby's website.
"I didn’t go out to South Africa with the intention of becoming a professional rugby player but, as my career progressed, it become more of a realistic goal to play for Scotland.
"The call came as a bit of a surprise but I’m thrilled and can’t wait to get to Edinburgh next month and play my part in an exciting squad."
Jones will join the Scotland squad at a camp on June 6.
