Stormers boosted by De Allende return

Cape Town - Springbok centre Damian de Allende has returned to full training with the Stormers this week after recovering from a quad injury.

It is a welcomed boost for the Cape Town-based side following injuries to midfielders Juan de Jongh and Shaun Treeby sustained in Saturday's 40-34 victory over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.

De Jongh left the field early in the game with concussion which will rule him out of the clash with the Sunwolves at Newlands on Saturday, while Treeby will be sidelined for two weeks with a rib injury.

Fullback SP Marais injured his knee after landing awkwardly and sustained no major ligament damage, though his progress will be monitored weekly as to how he responds to treatment.

Props Oli Kebble (thigh) and Ali Vermaak (calf) are still recovering from their respective injuries. Both players face a race against time to be fit for the Super Rugby quarter-finals.

The Stormers have already secured their place in the tournament play-offs after having topped Africa Conference 1.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
