Invercargill - Highlanders number eight Liam Squire has signed a contract extension with the Super Rugby outfit and New Zealand Rugby for two more years.
The 26-year-old announced the news via a Twitter post from the Highlanders in which he told team-mate Joe Wheeler that he had re-signed.
"I have signed on with the 'Landers and the NZRU for another two more years," said the eight-time All Black in a boost to the franchise.
In a further boost ahead of their clash with the Sunwolves in Invercargill on Saturday, wing Waisake Naholo is set to return from injury.
The Highlanders are currently fourth in the New Zealand Conference, 13 points off the pace-setting Crusaders after suffering three losses.
