Cape Town - Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold expects Springbok flyhalf Pat Lambie to be ready for action when they return from their overseas Super Rugby tour.
The Sharks will face the Lions in Durban this Saturday before embarking on a trip to New Zealand where they will face the Blues (Auckland, April 16), Highlanders (Dunedin, April 22) and Chiefs (Hamilton, April 29).
Lambie, who has been sidelined with a shoulder injury since the start of the year, won’t tour with the team but was back on the training field this week.
“He’s running, he doing everything other than taking contact at the moment,” Gold said at a press conference in Durban on Thursday.
“For that kind of an injury it’s literally just time to let the ligaments heal.”
When they return from tour, Gold also expects the likes of Philip van der Walt (neck), Jacques Potgieter (ankle injury) and Ruan Botha (hip), Tera Mtembu (knee) and Khaya Majola to be ready for action.
“We have to be sensible about how we do use them. But hopefully we’ll be in a good position with a little bit more strength in depth.”
