Cape Town - The Sharks are fighting to keep scrumhalf Cobus Reinach and lock Etienne Oosthuizen at the franchise beyond the end of the 2017 Super Rugby season.
Both players have contracts with the Durban-based franchise until the end of this year's tournament, but both have also been linked with moves abroad.
Oosthuizen (24) is heavily linked with French club Lyon while Reinach (26) has been linked with the Northampton Saints.
The Sharks responded to a query from Sport24 on Monday by releasing a statement on the rumours surrounding the players.
"We are aware of the recent reports linking two of our players to overseas clubs," the report said.
"Both Cobus Reinach and Etienne Oosthuizen’s contracts are up for renewal in October 2017. We are in discussions with these players together with other players who contracts expire this year regarding contract extensions.
"We understand fully the lure of the Pound and Euro and we will do everything we can to retain our players."
The Sharks get their Super Rugby season underway when they travel to the Reds on February 24.
