Cape Town - Hurricanes coach Chris Boyd has hinted that Julian Savea will be part of his squad when they host the Jaguares in Wellington on Saturday.
The Hurricanes had a bye at the weekend but the 25-year-old All Black wing sensation was left out of the Hurricanes’ match-day squad for their home match against the Kings in Round 5.
He was replaced by Jason Woodward in the run-on side in the Hurricanes' 42-20 victory over the Kings, while Matt Proctor was named as the back-up wing.
Despite some below-par performances, Savea's omission from the match-day 23 still came as a shock although Boyd said he wants to give everyone a fair chance at making their mark.
"We gave other people opportunities to play last time and he had a set of work to do over the last 10 days and I think by and large he's done really well in that space and he's looking good," Boyd told Fairfax Media.
"I don't know about the looking good in general stuff but he's done everything we've asked of him.
"Generally when you give other people the opportunity to play, unless they have an absolute scorcher, we tend to go back to the incumbent guy to give him another crack so I think there's a reasonably strong chance that Julian will play in the weekend."
This weekend marks Cory Jane's 100th Super Rugby appearance for the Hurricanes, since making his debut in 2007.
"It's Cory Jane's one hundredth game so, I'll give you the tip, Cory will play this weekend," added Boyd.
