Rohan nears Lions return

Cape Town - Springbok and Lions centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg's injury recovery process is going better than initially anticipated.

Janse van Rensburg has been sidelined since mid-April after tearing his knee ligaments in the Lions’ win over the Stormers at Newlands.

The 22-year-old underwent surgery and was expected to be sidelined for approximately 12 weeks.

But the midfielder has since returned to training with the Lions and may still feature in this year’s Super Rugby competition.

According to IOL Sport, Janse van Rensburg could come back into the selection mix after the Lions' bye next weekend, with the burly midfielder having been given clearance to play by the medical staff, while now just waiting to be cleared by the conditioning team.

Janse van Rensburg had been in scintillating form for the Lions prior to his injury and was many pundits’ pick for the Springbok No 12 jersey.

He made his Test debut against Wales in Cardiff last year.
