Rob Louw hits out at WP top brass

Cape Town - Former Springbok and Western Province flank Rob Louw was not happy with what he saw after the Stormers’ capitulation in the Super Rugby quarter-finals at Newlands on Saturday night.

The Stormers were pummelled 60-21 by New Zealand’s Chiefs, who outclassed their hosts in all facets.

It was the Stormers’ seventh Super Rugby playoff loss in eight attempts.

According to Louw, internal politics at the Western Province Rugby Union is contributing to the on-field woes.

Louw felt sorry for Stormers and WP legend Schalk Burger, who played his last match before heading to Saracens in England.

Louw, who shared his views via Twitter, also had praise for prop Vincent Koch, who scored two tries.

Louw took a further jab at the top brass at WP and said the union could learn from neigbours Boland.

Boland have been revived since Alan Zondagh took over as director of rugby last year, with the Boland Cavaliers having qualified for the Currie Cup Premier Division after an impressive qualifying campaign.

They also recently broke their allegiance with the Stormers to become a partner of the Bulls in Super Rugby.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
