Rennie welcomes underdog tag

Cape Town - Chiefs head coach Dave Rennie welcomed the underdog tag with open arms as they prepare to take on the Hurricanes in Wellington on Saturday.

The bookmakers have the 'Canes as favourite to win on their home turf, despite the Chiefs having prevailed at the venue earlier in the year.

The Chiefs were also top of the table for the majority of the regular-season, but Rennie is content to be the unfancied team this weekend.

"Oh absolutely, it's good," he told Stuff.co.nz website ahead of the Westpac Stadium clash.

"There's no doubt they're the form side in the competition. They've been incredibly consistent and had pretty tough opponents over the last five or so games."

One area the Chiefs have a disadvantage is the fact they've been on the road in recent fixtures while the 'Canes were at home last week.

And Rennie, possibly due to that fact, has stressed that his side have been adopting a "less is more" approach to their preparations.

"It's easy to get sucked into trying to do too much in these weeks because you think the game's more important," he said.

"Sometimes less is more. We've had a whole year of training."
