Relief for Cheetahs captain

Cape Town - Cheetahs captain Francois Venter is recovering well from a calf injury and should be ready to face the Waratahs in Sydney this weekend.

Venter was a late withdrawal from last Saturday’s team which played the Reds in Brisbane, with Lood de Jager leading the Cheetahs.

Venter went for a scan to determine the severity of his injury.

“I should be able to train fully with the team on Tuesday. I feel good,” he told Netwerk24 after the team arrived in Sydney.

This weekend’s clash will be the Cheetahs’ final tour game in Australia, having already lost to the Rebels (36-14) and Reds (30-17).

Saturday’s clash at Allianz Stadium is scheduled for 11:45 (SA time).
