Pollard to make return - in Mauritius?

Cape Town - Handre Pollard has returned to training and could make his return to action later this month.

The Bulls and Springbok flyhalf has been sidelined with an ankle injury since April, but returned to the training field with the Blue Bulls’ SuperSport Rugby Challenge team this week.

Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw confirmed Pollard’s return to training on Monday.

He also commented on the fitness of centre Dries Swanepoel and hinted that the duo could make their return to action at the World Club 10s tournament in Mauritius.

“Handre Pollard and Dries Swanepoel are making very good progress. Both of them started training with the SuperSport (Rugby Challenge) team this week. Their progress will be monitored to see if they’ll be fit for the Mauritius 10s.”

The tournament takes place at Mauritius’ Anjalay Stadium on June 17 and 18.

It is therefore highly improbable that Pollard will play any part in the Springboks’ upcoming three-Test series against France.

In the SuperSport Rugby Challenge, the Blue Bulls take on the Valke in Kempton Park this Friday and their following match is scheduled at home against the Golden Lions on June 23.

Pollard is unlikely to play this Friday, but could feature in the game against the Lions.
