Cape Town - Hurricanes assistant coach John Plumtree believes the structure New Zealand has in place is why their franchises are dominating Super Rugby.
The former Sharks boss, who moved back to his home country ahead of last season, is preparing his side for a key game with the Crusaders.
Four of New Zealand's five franchises will feature in the upcoming play-offs to two each from Australia and South Africa after a strong year.
When asked why the dominance has happened, Plumtree admits the impressive systems and talent coming through is a main reason for it.
"It is probably to do with the depth and systems that we have got in place here now," he told AAP ahead of Saturday's visit to Christchurch.
"There just seems to be a gravy train of talent coming through here and it's structured in a way that the players can perform at a high level.
"And it's got something to do with coaches and management around the country that are well organised."
He added on their superior fitness and qualities late in games: "Certainly the intensity of the last 20 minutes of any encounter against the New Zealand sides, you have to be in the hunt right the way through to get a win.
"You know the ante is going to upped at some point in a game."
