Mixed emotions for Bulls coach

Cape Town - Bulls coach Nollis Marais had mixed emotions after his side secured a narrow 30-27 victory over the Sunwolves in Singapore last Saturday.

Although Marais was pleased with the outcome - their first overseas victory since 2014 - he feels his side should have won the match by a bigger margin as they dominated most facets of play.

“The guys reminded me that we haven’t won outside South Africa in a while and that I wasn’t too friendly with them afterwards. I expected more from the team and the players after that dominant performance,” was quoted as saying by IOL.

“I think if you look back to the beginning of the season we were demolished in the scrums by the Stormers and were criticised for our set-pieces.

"If you look at the last two games our set-pieces are a dominating factor and something we can score points from and I’m pleased that we were able to be so dominant in those phases and get some points.

"At the same time we should have had a better conversion rate by half-time and we had at least six opportunities and we didn’t use them. We should have finished better and ensured that the outcome of the game doesn’t come down to the last 10 minutes of the game.”

In their next assignment, the Bulls will host the Cheetahs in Pretoria on Saturday (19:15 kick-off).

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
