But that Pietersen miss will be replayed in his mind countless times this week ...

The Sharks remain undefeated this season, but they were a simple kick away from being four wins in a row.

We'll have a lot more Super Rugby action to bring you this weekend.

Goodnight!

18 Mar 20:46
In the end it would have been heartbreaking for the Bulls to lose out at the death like that, so in the end a draw is probably a fair result in what was hardly an inspiring game of rugby ...
18 Mar 20:44

FULL TIME! He's missed it! That is unbelievable! He's been kicking everything over all season!

Pietersen won't be able to sleep tonight ... you'd back him to slot that 95 time out of 100.

It ends Bulls 16-16 Sharks

18 Mar 20:43
80' Pietersen to take the kick ... it's right in front ...
18 Mar 20:42

18 Mar 20:41
Sorry ... Bulls 16-16 Sharks
18 Mar 20:41
80' He's slotted it! The Bulls are level! Bulls 13-13 Sharks.
18 Mar 20:40
79' Schoeman is going for goal. It's just to the right and about 50m ... this will level the scores ...
18 Mar 20:40
78' Penalty Bulls! It's 50m out! What do the Bulls do?
18 Mar 20:38

77' Bulls win it back! 75m out, though. They kick it forward and the Sharks knock it on through Garth April.

So, the Bulls have a scrum on half-way ... they need to make something happen here ...

18 Mar 20:36
76' Bulls get the ball back and look to start an attack from inside their own half. But a simple movement through the hands sees the ball end up in touch ... poor from the hosts ...
18 Mar 20:34
75' Sharks might start thinking about closing this one out now.
18 Mar 20:34
74' And the Bulls knock it on in just their second phase after the scrum. So we'll pack down again ...
18 Mar 20:33
73'  Another scrum reset. There's been very little about this game that we could call 'pretty' ...
18 Mar 20:32
72' Ball doesn't come out of the ruck. Bulls moving forward, so they have the scrum about 25m out and centre-field. Big moment here ...
18 Mar 20:31
71'  Bulls win that little kicking exchange. They have a lineout 35m out ...
18 Mar 20:30
70' Paige bombs it up again but Le Roux takes it comfortably ...
18 Mar 20:30
70'  Bulls win the ball against the throw and they have it 50m out ...
18 Mar 20:29
69' Sharks scrum on their own 22m line ... And the Sharks win the penalty! They can relieve the pressure now ...
18 Mar 20:28
68' The Bulls penalised again at the lineout drive! And again the Sharks can clear ...
18 Mar 20:27

67' Keegan Daniel is on for the Sharks. Du Preez off ...

Hyron Andrews also on for Lewies ...

18 Mar 20:26
67' It's messy again. This time Dan du Preez penalised at the breakdown. Bulls set up another lineout inside the Sharks 22 ...
18 Mar 20:24
65' Really good from Paige. He kicks from the ruck and gets the Bulls back into the Sharks 22 ...
18 Mar 20:23
64' Bulls looking to get it going but that Sharks defence is really stepping up ...
18 Mar 20:21
64'  But the Sharks win the lineout ball and Pietersen clears ...
18 Mar 20:21
63'  Schoeman sets up a Bulls lineout just 10m out ... massive opportunity ...
18 Mar 20:20
62' Sharks lose it with a loose pass from Joe Pietersen ... Bulls kick possession away but then win a penalty for Beast being offside.
18 Mar 20:19
61' Bulls clear and the Sharks have a lineout 40m out ...
18 Mar 20:19
60'  Coenie Oosthuizen and Franco Marais also on for the Sharks now in the front row ...
18 Mar 20:18
59' So close for the Sharks! They had the penalty advantage so Joe Pietersen bombed one up for JP Pietersen to chase. The Sharks wing won the ball and offloaded to Willie le Roux, who popped it back in-field where it was lost ...
18 Mar 20:16
59'  Sharks lineout just inside Bulls territory ...
18 Mar 20:16
58' Kriel makes the break and a try looks on but referee Jackson has called for a "clear" obstruction, he says. the Loftus crowd doesn't like it, but it's a Sharks penalty ...
18 Mar 20:14
57' Bulls lineout 30 out ...
18 Mar 20:13

Benches coming into play now.

Tiaan Schoeman and Jesse Kriel on for the Bulls ....

18 Mar 20:12
55' Sorry, was from 45m. It doesn't matter to Pietersen, though. He's slotting everything this season. Bulls 13-16 Sharks.
18 Mar 20:11
55'  Pietersen lines up a shot at goal ... from out right and about 35m ...
18 Mar 20:11
54' Sharks win the lineout, set up the maul and win the penalty for Jannes Kirsten coming in from the side ...
18 Mar 20:10
53' Penalty to the Sharks inside their half. Play taken inside Bulls territory. Is the momentum shifting?
18 Mar 20:09
52'  Pietersen's conversion from wide left is good and it's 13-13.
18 Mar 20:08
51' Out of nowhere! Willie le Roux sparked that with a little chip over the top. Lwazi Mvovo chased it down and got his boot on the end of it to keep it in play, and it was Le Roux who grounded over the try line!
18 Mar 20:07
51' TRY SHARKS!
18 Mar 20:06
49' That's poor from Brummer. He misses right again. That's 9 points he's left out there tonight ...
18 Mar 20:05
48' Bulls win the scrum penalty! On Sharks ball! They can stretch the lead here ...
18 Mar 20:03
No doubt that the Bulls look the hungrier of the sides tonight ...

47' Bulls knock-on through Jamba Ulengo and the Sharks have possession back.
18 Mar 20:02
46' Bulls now in possession 40m out ...
18 Mar 20:02
45' Gelant continues to impress ...
18 Mar 20:01

44' WOW! The Sharks make a rare break and look set to score. JP Pietersen looks for an inside pass, but it is intercepted by Gelant!

The Bulls fullback then finds a massive touch ...

18 Mar 20:00
43' Bulls look for the rolling maul but they are met by good Sharks defence. Paige goes aerial and the Sharks recover ...
18 Mar 19:58
42' Bulls have a lineout on half-way ...

  • 80'

Drama again! The Sharks win a penalty at the breakdown, Coetzee getting over the ball, and Pietersen will have a kick to win it.

  • 80'

How has he missed that?! Pietersen, right in front of the posts in the Bulls' 22, misses the kick and the game finishes in a draw! Unbelievable ending at Loftus, it's a 16-16 draw. Pietersen will be wondering about that kick for some time.

  • 80'

    BULLS 16-16 SHARKS

  • 79'

PENALTY, BULLS, SCHOEMAN! 16-16: Monster strike from replacement fly-half Schoeman to tie it up! What a finish!

  • 77'

Real tension around the stadium as Schoeman's kick is nearly charged down, Mvovo knocking on trying to regather it to hand the Bulls a scrum.

  • 74'

Poor pass this time by Basson as the clock starts to go against the home side.

  • 71'

Small errors stopping both sides from getting going here, as we reset the scrum again.

  • 68'

Clock ticking down with the Sharks ahead, but this time it's the Bulls penalised at the scrum! Gqoboka the man singled out with a tough call. Sharks clear, but the lineout is lost!

  • 65'

Super over the shoulder kick from Paige pins the Sharks deep back in their half, a welcome breather after a long passage of play.

  • 63'

Contest starting to open up as the Bulls fail to make the most of a lineout in Sharks territory.

  • 60'

So close for the Sharks! Le Roux looks set to score for all money but he can't control the flick infield, knocking on with the line at his mercy as the Bulls defence rallies.

  • 57'

Bulls now searching for a response, as they reach the Sharks 22.

  • 57'

Kriel, off the bench, thinks he's scored, but we're coming back for obstruction. Penalty Sharks.

  • 55'

PENALTY, SHARKS, PIETERSEN! 13-16: He's got it on a string. All the momentum with the Sharks and he lands another beauty to put them ahead.

  • 54'

Driving maul from the Sharks earns a penalty, Pietersen lining this one up to take the lead.

  • 52'

CONVERSION, SHARKS, PIETERSEN! 13-13: Fine strike by the fly-half from out on the touchline. We're level!

  • 51'

TRY, SHARKS, LE ROUX! 13-11: The Sharks hit back! Le Roux kicks long into space and Mvovo chases hard, applying the pressure as the ball spills loose for Le Roux to scoop up and score. No need for the TMO as the officials make the call.

  • 49'

Wide from Brummer and the gap remains seven points.

  • 48'

More pure scrum dominance from that Bulls pack, punishing the Sharks there by driving them backwards. Brummer has another shot.

  • 45'

Great play by Gelant! Sharks and Pietersen tearing up the field and as JP delivers the final pass Gelant steps in to intercept before thumping the ball long upfield. Key try-saver and good clearance.

  • 44'

Nice catch and drive from the Bulls before Paige's box kick is marked by Le Roux. Sharks clear.

  • 42'

Sharks survive a period of pressure after Le Roux fumbles a high ball. Bulls lineout.

  • 40'

PENALTY, SHARKS, PIETERSEN! 13-6: Brilliant strike from Pietersen from way back on halfway to put the Sharks seven behind. That''ll be half-time.

  • 40'

    HALF TIME: BULLS 13-6 SHARKS

  • 40'

Brummer gets the second half underway as Coetzee tidies up. Sharks clear long but not to touch.

  • 38'

Brummer drops the ball passed to him and the Bull forwards seem unable to survive tackles by the Shark defence.

  • 36'

Missed penalty by Brummer keeps the gap on the scoreboard at ten points.

  • 33'

CONVERSION, BULLS, BRUMMER! 13-3: Extra two from the fly-half as the Bulls open up a big lead.

  • 32'

TRY, BULLS, GELANT! 11-3: Well-worked score from the hosts, the inside bull sending Gelant through a gap for the game''s first try.

  • 30'

Bulls penalty and Brummer misses touch... Pietersen clears and the Bulls lose serious ground. The Bulls struggle to dent the Shark defence.

  • 28'

JP Pietersen dashes down the field! The Bulls slow down play and the Sharks quickly force the ball into Bulls territory.

  • 26'

Turnover is good for the Sharks and they are back on the front foot. Paige forces his way forward and creates an opportunity for the Bulls. The opportunity is short lived and the Sharks seal their defence.

  • 23'

Oosthuizen enforces the turnover and the Sharks have a scrum about 43m out, but it comes to nothing.

  • 21'

JP Pietersen gets the crowd on their feet as he breaks away and runs towards the Bulls defence, but the hosts recover to keep the Sharks out.

  • 18'

DROP GOAL, BULLS, BRUMMER! 6-3: What a beautiful strike by Brummer and well delivered through the posts.

  • 16'

The grass is being ripped up and making play difficult. The teams prepare for a scrum, Botha receives the ball and there is a slow ball driven towards the Shark defence.

  • 15'

Mtawarira is penalised at the scrum, marching the Bulls upfield, but we're packing down again, Bulls with the put-in.

  • 12'

PENALTY, SHARKS, PIETERSEN! 3-3: Struck well and it's all square at Loftus.

  • 11'

The Bulls look to start and attack from inside their 22, but the handling isn''''t there and the Sharks will have the put in about 30m out. There is pressure during the scrum and due to the mishandling of the ball by the Bulls the Sharks receive a penalty.

  • 9'

PENALTY, BULLS, BRUMMER! 3-0: The Sharks are offside and the Bulls are rewarded with a kickable penalty. Brummer easily takes the kick and the Bulls lead 3-0.

  • 7'

A short ball from the lineout and the Pietersen then kicks the ball into the stands. There is then an amazing opportunity for the Bull forwards, but they loose to the immense Shark defence.

  • 4'

Gelant of the Bulls charges through the Shark defense and almost finds his way through the defense. Brummer takes the free kick for the Bulls after the ball was not released. Brummer kicks the ball wide.

  • 2'

A very exciting start to the match, the players struggle with mud underfoot, but the Sharks quickly make their presence felt. Du Preez runs forward past the half way mark only to be taken down.

  • 0'

Good evening and welcome to Loftus Versveld in Pretoria. We eagerly look forward to the start of this match, especially after the very impressive performance by the Sharks over the weekend.

  • 0'

We are just minutes away from Kick Off... It's a comfortably warm evening after some light rain. The crowds are slowly finding their places in the stands.

  • 0'

Our officials this evening. Referee: Glen Jackson Assistant Referees: Stuart Berry, Rasta Rasivhenge TMO: Willie Vos

  • 0'

The last time these teams met: The Bulls won 17-10 in a very intense encounter at Kings Park midway through the 2015 season. The teams scored a try each but it was Springbok fly-half Pollard's boot that proved the difference. Pollard slotted four penalties, while Zeilinga managed one conversion and secured only one penalty out of three attempts. Will we be seeing a similar performance? Well, just over 5 agonising minutes to wait.

  • 0'

Ulengo's inclusion is the only change to the Bulls starting backline and replaces Trevor Ismaiel on the right wing. South Africa's Young Player of the Year, Jesse Kriel returns from injury via the bench. Amongst the forwards, Roelof Smit will start at openside with Nic de Jager dropping to the bench. For the Sharks, flanker Jean-Luc du Preez misses out after suffering a minor foot injury against the Stormers, with Philip van der Walt promoted to the starting line-up. Front rowers Lourens Adriaanse and Kyle Cooper get their first starts of the season, as does scrum-half Michael Claassens, while Lwazi Mvovo comes back into the side. Loose forward Keegan Daniel also makes his return to the squad on the bench. After snapping a six-game losing streak with a 45-25 win over the Rebels in Round 2 the Bulls will be looking to secure back-to-back wins in Super Rugby for the first time since Round 10 last season, which was their last encounter with the Sharks. The Sharks have tied together six wins on the trot and a seventh win would see the streak extend to their longest in Super Rugby since they won eight in a row across the 2006 and 2007 seasons. They beat the Stormers 18-13 in Cape Town last week.

The teams are enthusiastically greeted by the fans as they run out onto the field. The rain begins to fall heavily as the whistle announcing the start of the match is blown. And we're off!
