Cape Town - Lions flank Jaco Kriel is unlikely to be considered for Saturday’s South African Super Rugby derby against the Bulls in Johannesburg.
Kriel missed the Lions’ three-week tour to Australia with a knee injury and the Johannesburg-franchise confirmed on Tuesday that the Springbok loose forward is not yet 100%.
The Lions announced via a press statement that Kriel is currently “doing agility training and is monitored week by week and unlikely to play this weekend”.
Meanwhile, the Lions also confirmed that wing Madosh Tambwe picked up a side strain playing for the Golden Lions in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge and will not be available this week, while prop Hencus van Wyk sustained a neck strain and will be “monitored week by week”.
On the long-term injury list, centres Rohan Janse van Rensburg and Howard Mnisi are recovering from knee injuries.
Saturday's Lions-Bulls derby at Ellis Park is scheduled for 17:15.
