Cape Town - Brumbies head coach Stephen Larkham says he is still determining who his captain for the 2017 Super Rugby season might be.
With Christian Lealiifano’s 2017 return in doubt, and the departure of Stephen Moore to the Reds, the Brumbies are yet to name a captain for the upcoming season, with Larkham giving an update on the situation.
"We’ve got the two upcoming trial games against the Australian Barbarians and the Waratahs and then the Brisbane 10’s," Larkham told the Brumbies website.
"We might have a couple of interim captains through that period and then leading into the first game we’ll make a decision on who’s going to be captain."
Despite a clear leader yet to emerge Larkham said that the togetherness of the current group would hold them in good stead for the challenges ahead.
"There’s a lot of excitement, I think the playing group have been through a fair bit together," Larkham said.
"The majority of the group have been together the last four years and I think we’ve seen a significant change in the off-season with a number of the senior players moving on.
"It gives these younger players an opportunity to really step up here now and gives some of the new players an opportunity to come in and prove themselves."
