JC injury 'not looking good'

Cape Town - The Stormers are only due to arrive back in Cape Town on Tuesday following their disappointing 17-17 draw against the Sunwolves in Singapore over the weekend.

One of the first orders of business upon their return will be to assess the injury sustained by loosehead prop JC Janse van Rensburg.

The 30-year-old left the field after just half an hour with a knee injury, and coach Robbie Fleck confirmed to media on Sunday that the early prognosis was concerning.

"It’s not looking good for JC," said Fleck.

"He’s going to go in for some scans. He may have an MCL. That’ll be confirmed in Cape Town but the initial view on it is not good."

The Stormers can take comfort in the fact that they have depth at loosehead prop.

Oli Kebble was Van Rensburg's replacement on Saturday while Ali Vermaak, who has been a part of the Currie Cup setup this year, was a regular in Allister Coetzee's Super Rugby squad in 2015.
