Groom's knee injury not serious

Cape Town - Stormers scrumhalf Nic Groom’s knee injury is not expected to keep him sidelined for an extended period.

Groom sustained a bump to the knee in the Cape side’s last encounter - a 13-8 win over the Jaguares in Buenos Aires on March 26.

His knee was swollen after the game which required him to get a cortisone injection, along with about nine days of rest.

He will not be considered for Friday’s clash against the Sunwolves, but should be ready to face the Lions in Johannesburg the following weekend (April 16).

Groom sat pitch-side as the Stormers trained at Newlands on Tuesday, with Louis Schreuder and Godlen Masimla training as the two scrumhalves.

The more experienced Schreuder is likely to start, with Masimla his understudy.
