Former Bulls, Lions prop joins Sunwolves

Cape Town - Former Bulls and Lions prop Hencus van Wyk will be playing for Japan's Sunwolves in the 2018 Super Rugby competition.

The 25-year-old, who started his professional career at the Bulls, has been playing in Japan with the Munakata Sanix Blues since 2015.

He was on loan at the Lions during this year's Super Rugby tournament.

According to Rugby365, Van Wyk's move to the Sunwolves is a done deal.

It will mean that there are six South African-born players turning out for the Sunwolves in 2018 with Grant Hattingh, Willie Britz, Wimpie van der Walt, Gerhard van den Heever and Ruan Smith already confirmed.

The Sunwolves have been placed in the Australian Conference for the new-look tournament in 2018 and they will be desperate to show some improvement on their form in 2017 that saw them win just two games from 15.

The Sunwolves begin their 2018 campaign on February 24 when they host the Brumbies in Tokyo.
