Cape Town - Debate around the merits of the format in the new, extended version of Super Rugby continue to do the rounds.
SANZAAR has issued a statement defending the format, while Super Rugby coaches and critics have voiced their concerns.
Either way, it appears that the tournament is struggling.
According to an article in Rapport over the weekend, television viewership as well as stadium attendance is decreasing.
It is obviously a major concern for SANZAAR, and they will be looking at ways to improve the numbers in the years to come.
Sport24 conducted a poll on Twitter, asking readers what they would like to see more of in Super Rugby.
The four options were:
a) More local derbies between South African sides
b) More matches between SA and NZ teams
c) More matches between SA and Australian teams
d) Nothing, the tournament is fine the way it is
Over 240 people took part in the poll, and the results were overwhelming.
64% of the participants said that they would like to see more matches between SA and NZ teams, while 15% wanted to see more local derbies.
Just 7% wanted to see more matches against Australian teams, while 14% believed that the tournament was fine the way it is.
This season, only the Sharks, Lions and Kings have played against New Zealand opposition due to the South African sides being split into two Conferences.
