Daniel injury blow for Sharks

Cape Town - Despite winning their first pre-season friendly against the Cheetahs with ease, the Sharks were dealt a blow with the news that Keegan Daniel sustained a fractured radius in his forearm and will be out for up to 12 weeks.

Daniel has already undergone surgery to correct the fracture.

Despite the injury setback, Sharks coach Robert du Preez was pleased with his charges first “hit-out” for the season.

“It was a good start to our journey and I was pleased with the squads fitness. They obviously didn’t have game time during our pre-season and we want to see how they go. Our general execution was good despite the humid conditions and we pleased with the enthusiasm and energy shown by our relatively young squad,” said Du Preez.

The Sharks play their second warm-up match of their pre-season against a Bulls XV on Friday.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
