Cheetahs sweat on Petersen

Bloemfontein - Cheetahs wing Sergeal Petersen will undergo a scan on Monday in order to assess a quad muscle injury which he sustained during their victory over the Southern Kings on Saturday.

Petersen is currently in the form of his life and with Ireland looming around the corner it is hoped that the injury will not get in the way of Springbok colours.

Coach Franco Smith gave a positive outlook when asked about Petersen’s injury: “He stretched his quad a bit and we don’t think it is too serious but we will have to wait for the scan before we know for sure”

The Cheetahs have a bye this weekend before they travel to Cape Town to play the Stormers and if the injury is not too serious Petersen will be expected to get his team over the tryline as he did against the Kings on Saturday.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
