Bulls lose skipper Liebenberg

Pretoria - The Bulls received a massive setback when their No 8 - and captain - Hanro Liebenberg was ruled out of the rest of the Super Rugby season with an ankle injury.
Liebenberg was stretchered off the field on Saturday during the 34-20 loss to the Hurricanes at Loftus Versfeld, and was immediately dispatched for scans on the ankle to see if surgery was needed.
It seems this is not the case, but the Bulls medical team have indicated that he is unlikely to play any part in the rest of the competition with the injury.
“Hanro went for a scan this morning and will be out for six weeks,” team doctor Herman Rossouw said on the injury.
There is also worry about tighthead prop Jacobie Adriaanse, who left the field with concussion. While both he and Jannes Kirsten were treated for concussion, it was Adriaanse’s second concussion this season, meaning he may well sit out for up to six weeks as well, as the team follows the return to play protocol.
The good news was that Springbok Handre Pollard, midfielder Dries Swanepoel and flank Roelof Smit all returned to training with the Bulls and could be back after the June break if all goes well.
The Bulls' three remaining matches are against the Sharks (in Durban on Friday, June 30), at home to the Kings (Saturday, July 8) and once again at Loftus against the Stormers (Saturday, July 15).
