Brumbies prop Sio points to home advantage

Canberra - Brumbies forward Scott Sio believes that home ground advantage could be the difference when the Brumbies host the Hurricanes at GIO Stadium this Friday night.

The Hurricanes will arrive in Canberra full of confidence after a superb season to date, losing only three games and ending the Crusaders’ season-long unbeaten streak last weekend.

They won’t be the only team entering the clash full of confidence though, with Sio insisting that the Brumbies plan on wearing the underdog tag with pride and on knocking the Kiwi team out of the competition.

“You have to be super confident. They’re a great team and they’ve had an amazing season,” Sio said.

“It really comes down to your belief as an individual and a collective, and that’s why they are so good at the moment – because they believe they are the best.

“We’ve got to have that mind-set heading into the game this weekend.”

One thing that will be sure to boost the only remaining Australian team’s belief will be running out to a packed GIO Stadium full of Brumbies fans cheering their team over the line.

For the prop, being able to play in a finals match in front of such a great fan base is the most important thing and could just be the difference between the two powerhouses on the night.

“That’s the most important thing for us,” Sio commented. “Having the home final is what it is but it’s more about having as many fans there as we can. We get a lot of energy from them.

“It is a big thing on the field. We don’t elude to it a lot but when the fans are up and when they are passionate it really gets us up on the filed in all facets of the game.

“I’d love to see you all there and hopefully we can get over the line against the Hurricanes.”
