Bookies make Lions final underdogs

    2016-08-01 11:25

Cape Town - Predictably, bookmakers have made the Lions underdogs for the 2016 Super Rugby final against the Hurricanes in Wellington on Saturday.

    Kick-off is at 09:35.

No team in Super Rugby history has crossed the Indian Ocean and won the final.

Either way, history will be made at the Westpac Stadium as neither team has been crowned Super Rugby champions previously.

Leading SA bookies Sportingbet have the Hurricanes as 2/5 favourites, with the Lions on offer at 7/4.

Handicap-wise, the home side have been installed as 6-point favourites.

In their meeting earlier this season at Ellis Park, the Hurricanes won 50-17.
