Cape Town - The Waratahs have beaten the Hurricanes in a thrilling cross-Tasman Vodacom Super Rugby clash in Sydney on Saturday.
The Waratahs won 39-30 after the teams were level at 24-all at half-time.
The Waratahs scored five tries through wing Rob Horne, flank Dave Dennis, flyhalf Bernard Foley, wing Matt Carraro and replacement forward Stephen Hoiles. Foley was also on target with four conversions and two penalties for a personal haul of 19 points.
The Hurricanes replied with three tries by prop Jeffery Toomaga-Allen, flyhalf Beauden Barrett and wing Julian Savea. Barrett added all three conversions and three penalties for a personal haul of 20 points to extend his lead atop the leading points scorers' charts.
The Waratahs picked up a full-house of five points for their win and moved to second in the Australian Conference and fourth in the Overall standings.
The Hurricanes left empty-handed and remained third in the New Zealand Conference, but slipped to seventh in the Overall log.
In next weekend's action the Waratahs have a bye, while the Hurricanes travel to Melbourne to face the Rebels (Friday, May 9 at 11:40).
