    Waratahs hold off Rebels

    Cape Town - The Waratahs kept up the pressure on rivals the Brumbies in beating the Rebels in Sydney on Saturday.

    The Waratahs won 18-16 after leading 13-3 at half-time.

    The Waratahs scored three tries through flank Michael Hooper, centre Adam Ashley-Cooper and wing Rob Horne. Flyhalf Bernard Foley added a penalty.

    The Rebels replied with a try by replacement back Bryce Hegarty and a conversion and three penalties by flyhalf Jack Debreczeni.

    The Waratahs picked up four points for their victory to close the gap to the Brumbies in the Australian Conference. They also moved into sixth spot in the Overall standings.

    The Rebels picked up a point for losing by fewer than seven points, but stayed third and 11th in the Australian Conference and Overall log.

    In next weekend's Round 12 action, the Waratahs travel to Canberra to face the Brumbies (Friday, May 1 at 11:40), while the Rebels host the Chiefs in Melbourne (Saturday, May 2 at 11:40).
