Waratahs duo cited

Cape Town - Waratahs duo Silatolu Latu and Will Skelton have been cited for alleged foul play following their 32-22 Super Rugby win over the Crusaders in Sydney on Saturday.

Both players are alleged to have contravened law 10.4 (j), Lifting Tackle, when they jointly tip-tackled a Crusaders player.

The referee for the match, Marius van der Westhuizen, issued a yellow card to hooker Latu, but lock Skelton remained on the field.

Upon further review of the match footage, the citing commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.

The citings are to be considered in the first instance by SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer (DJO) Nigel Hampton.

All SANZAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to a Duty Judicial Officer hearing to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at this hearing, the person/s appearing must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the DJO.
