Vermeulen back in training

Cape Town - The Stormers have been boosted with loose forward Duane Vermeulen back in training for the first time since injuring his knee against the Reds in April.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee said Vermeulen will be assessed on Thursday before a decision on his availability for their semi-final will be taken.

Flyhalf Gary van Aswegen is also back after a lengthy injury layoff.

"Both Duane Vermeulen and Gary van Aswegen are back in training today - they have both worked really hard, Duane will be assessed tomorrow," said Coetzee.

The Stormers have a home semi-final next weekend after they finished top of the overall Super Rugby log for the first time in their history.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
