Cape Town - Bulls scrumhalf Jano Vermaak says he is a bit nervous ahead of his first Super Rugby start for his new franchise on Saturday against the Blues.
Vermaak will play in place of Francois Hougaard
, who is suspended for one week after a tip tackle on Cheetahs centre Robert Ebersohn.
The 27-year-old Vermaak made his Super Rugby debut in 2006 for the Lions and has 63 Super appearances after he came on in the second half against the Cheetahs last week.
Vermaak told the Beeld
newspaper he didn't expect to start a game so soon for the Bulls but is keen to use his opportunity.
He believes making the shift to Loftus Versfeld gives him a better chance at becoming a Springbok.
"To wear the No 9 jersey for the Bulls is a massive honour and responsibility. There were big names like Joost van der Westhuizen, Fourie
du Preez and Hougie (Hougaard) who wore the jersey before me, so I have big shoes to fill. I'm looking forward to it and I'm a bit nervous.
"I hope to become a Bok here," said Vermaak.
