Cape Town - Springbok prop Trevor Nyakane has extended his stay at the Bloemfontein-based Cheetahs.
According to the Volksblad website, the 24-year-old was hunted by several other unions but decided to sign on at the Cheetahs for at least one more year.
His agent, BC du Plessis, said his client signed a deal until the end of the 2014 season.
"Trevor had a very tough and important decision to make. He had to consider where he could play that would be beneficial for his playing style, and where he could best stake a claim for the Springbok jersey.
"He eventually decided that, as a person and player, he can learn a lot from Naka (Drotské, Cheetahs coach) and Os (du Randt, forwards coach)," said Du Plessis.
Nyakane can pack down at either side of the scrum, and this played a part in him making his Test debut against Italy in Durban last month.
The news will be welcomed by Cheetahs fans, who also had reason to smile earlier this week when wing/fullback Willie le Roux signed at the franchise for two more years.
