The day the Bulls were bullied

2011-03-20 20:00

Comment: Rob Houwing, Sport24 chief writer

Cape Town - With four wins from four starts, including now such a seismic one at Loftus, Stormers fans could even start to excuse this little “win without many tries” phenomenon, eh?

For the record, it was just one touchdown apiece in their breathless, uncompromising Super Rugby derby against the Bulls in Pretoria on Saturday, with a barrage of penalty goals from Peter Grant again the keynote activity in scoreboard terms.

And yet supporters of the Cape franchise – there seemed to be appreciative swathes of them in the champions’ corral, which must have aided the away cause just a bit – wouldn’t have spent their immediate post-match time lamenting the relative try drought.

Instead they would have toasted what amounted to a serious warning to the Bulls, from the beaten finalists of 2010, that they might indeed muster the grunt and endeavour to go one better this year.

Just a wee tempering reminder at this point: conference fixtures continue until mid-June, before the knockout stuff kicks in, so there is plenty of time yet for twists, turns, dramatic momentum shifts ... and of course jaw-dropping results like the one in Sydney earlier on Saturday. (Who, pray tell, had the Cheetahs not only to beat the Waratahs but do so by 20 points?)

But there’s no disputing that the Bulls were truly rattled by this 23-13 reverse at a supposed fortress that has suddenly become a gateway to pleasure over successive rounds for the Highlands and Stormers.

And especially, I think, because their great southern rivals truly “fronted up” at last to lay the foundations for a hugely satisfying achievement (the Bulls were restricted to a solitary Morne Steyn penalty in the second half, and were more broadly the back-foot team as they couldn’t even bank a losing bonus point).

The Stormers were not slow to bang in a peg of intent: albeit a little fortuitously, they heeled against the head at a scrum even as some spectators were still settling into their seats, and this was the area, particularly, where they gave the Bulls consistently more grief than they would have anticipated.

And while a certain Bakkies Botha flung himself into first-half tackles and rucks with customary zeal, the visitors sported a fresh-faced second-row terminator of their own in 21-year-old Rynhardt Elstadt, who answered fire with tight-loose fire despite his palpable concession of experience.

The sight of the “kid” smashing into men must have had a galvanising effect on the rest of the Stormers eight, as the pack gradually established superiority and ensured that, unlike the really hard-earned win against the territory-ruling Highlanders at Newlands last week, Jean de Villiers’s outfit didn’t have to spend big pockets of time defending grimly.

The Bulls’ rare indignity in the engine room continued right through to the final scrum of the match, when Wicus Blaauw “popped” substitute tighthead Rossouw de Klerk.

And it was not as though the bossing team didn’t show some welcome flashes of attacking flair, either: people like De Villiers, his midfield mate Jaque Fourie and impressive scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenage created half-chances that might have turned to tries with greater precision and composure.

The game was also a triumph for Allister Coetzee and the rest of the Stormers brains trust strategically: they combated a strong Bulls bench by loading their own with appropriate resources and then using them well to thwart any belated Bulls attempt to get a head of steam.

And Coetzee, who had defended Bryan Habana, the out-of-form “Beckham” of his squad in poster-boy appeal, with such unusual indignation only a few days earlier, would have whooped as gleefully as anyone when the left wing, with a brilliant bit of opportunism and dogged determination, dotted what amounted to the match-sealing try in the 70th minute from Duvenage’s dink over the top.

What’s up with the Bulls, then?

There will be some head-scratching around Loftus in the next few days, as it now seems the Highlanders setback was no bolt from the blue.

They were heavily penalised at the breakdown for a second occasion on the trot, and at present their chief burrower Deon Stegmann is an all-too-clear liability here. And once again No 8 Pierre Spies having to scramble, rather than rampage, is not the most convincing sight in the world, which is some further food for Springbok worry.

General discipline is also a bugbear, as a grim-faced Victor Matfield admitted afterwards, as evidenced by a penalty count of around 13-5 in favour of the Stormers.

Although neighbours the Lions didn’t exactly set Coca-Cola Park on fire against the Force, expect them to try to cheekily cash in next week on the Bulls’ relative disarray as a Highveld derby looms large.

It really would be alarm bells if the Bulls lose three in a row at Loftus .

My guess is they’ll regroup ...

Shoo, Papa Smurf is sleeping, he has taken his medicine, klippies and coke.

      Andy49 - 2011-03-19 23:19

@Michael let's try not to copy the insulting & childish comments used by those people.

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-03-20 08:32

WHERE IS ALWYN? I usually take no pleasure in lambasting a loser - but in Alwyn's case I'm happy to make a huge exception. Maybe he doesn't have "airtime" on his 3G card after all? And that after him telling all and sundry he WOULE BE HERE, cos he haf a luptop wif a 3G kaart en daar is airtime op sy 3g kaart. Drop me a mail Alwyn, I will send you an airtime voucher - then get your @ss online & enjoy some breakfast with us. Fried Egg on the face is an ubercool Sunday brekkie.

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-03-20 14:47

@Stormer4eva - Eish man. I keep logging on in the hope of finding dear Alpyn online...D@mn, maybe he has accompanied the senior Bulls players to Fourie Du Preez's home for a "what the f@rk happened last night" session? (as is the norm after a loss at Loftus)

  • BardofAvon - 2011-03-19 22:50

omg that was terrible. The Circus Lions must be licking their chops.

      CapeTownJunk - 2011-03-19 23:47

Darn right! The Circus Lions might roll over and play dead whenever the opposition's accents have an Antipodean twang to them, but put a couple of Afrikaans surnames on the opposition team sheet, and all of a sudden they'll decide to grow a spine. It's the John Mitchell master plan - to make one of the South African teams easy-beats for NZ and Aussie teams.

  • Jonrae - 2011-03-19 22:57

It was so nice to see! What about Bakkies trying to strangle Duvenhage!? Idiot! We will soon hear “wat is in jul trofeekas ek se my broer!?” Smurfie sucks!

  • vicj - 2011-03-19 23:00

They may have been hit by a Storm now, but aint seeing nothing yet as the Sharks are on their way to finish them off. (Oops and Stormers)

      Paddy - 2011-03-20 01:40

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!You mean the guppies that lost to the Chiefs? Mate the Sharks will be so humiliated at Twickers on Saturday by the Saders that they might retire from the competition. Bismarck is dumb Bakkies the 2nd! Alberts should move to Pretoria and play “stampkar” rugby in SNOTcity.Kankowski is useless and oupa Terblanche is a neverbeen! GO THE CHEETAHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr D - 2011-03-20 06:21 c'mon man get a life, TerreB is one of the best palyers in the park, age or no age but U should know better hey, for what "team" did U play?

      Paddy - 2011-03-20 11:20

You are right mate I never played CCup Rugby but I did play provincial u/20 rugby. Good enough for me. You don’t have to be a super player to see that Terblanche is past tense. Then some of us had to make choices. Varsity or rugby. 25 years ago the money involved for playing rugby wasn’t that good so I decided to go for the varsity option. Today I am very glad that I went for the academic option. Terblanche and John Smit are passengers. The pace of the game is too fast for them. Old SA problem that players get into a team on face value. Bye the way for what team did you play?

      GraemeBB - 2011-03-20 11:42

Paddy - you have just proved that you are a chump - I dont care if you played for NZ. Sharks are going to beat you, Stormers are going to beat you, and the poor form of the Bulls already beat you. God, the Lions beat you. Respect old Paddy will serve you well.

      Paddy - 2011-03-20 12:23

      GraemeBB - 2011-03-20 12:46

Paddy - I smoked your mother. My "gathare". Definately a Stormer. Obsessed with that area . Go get your school money back, I am a Bull, and therefore my "gathare" is not "taai". I just had to comment on such blatant stupidity.

  • Oukoos - 2011-03-19 23:12

      daspoort - 2011-03-19 23:29

  • Leeutjie - 2011-03-19 23:48

It's a sad day for us and i don't see them getting any better. They just looked old and pathetic. I would suggest, bite the bullet, drop all the non performers to the vodacom team and rebuild some. The Stormers did not even play well today, if it was the Sharks today the score would have been at least in the 50's. I just do not know who is going to win the worlcup for us cause ou snorre pinned his hopes on these old ballies. I am talking about all the toppies, De Villiers and Habanna at stormers, John Smit, Adrian Jackobs at sharks and then the whole old age home at bulls, Matfield, Spies(not that old just bad) Fd Preez, Bakkies, Rossouw, Olivier Kirchner(not old, just bab) and Morne Steyn. It's not going to be a fun worldcup except if some of the youngsters show some maturity, and then of course there is Stefan Terreblance, he plays like a vibrant young man. If he can still play like he does i am sure these other lads can roll up their sleeves and graft for one more worldcup. Let's hope they do.

      GraemeBB - 2011-03-20 10:47

Good post - I think that experience is vital, and I dont agree with the age factor. In most cases, I think it is all about hunger, preparation and good planning. In Ludeke I do not trust - I think like with snor, he took over a winning team, and is unable to make the changes in all aspects, be it players or planning, to keep the Bulls strong. His record at the Lions was the same. This, indeed, bodes poorly for the Boks. I would rather see some heads rolling, be it John, Bakkies or Spies, than going to a RWC and losing. Mark my words, if there is no change, the Boks will frustrate us, as the Bulls frustrated me last night.

  • Visvoet - 2011-03-20 00:40

Quite refreshing to have a comment on the rugby on no just insults. Agree, gotta support all our teams against the "vynand". Good win for the Stormers, but the season is still a puppy, crazy to right off any team at this stage.

      Stem 100% met jou saam.

      BardofAvon - 2011-03-20 08:25

      Lourens - 2011-03-20 09:37

Great post Visvoet, stem 100% saam.

  • Charlie - 2011-03-20 02:45

Can there be any doubt now that the Stormers are the best team in the world ......!!! No. The Bulls are history and will not finish higher than 10. The Stormers should and most probably will represent SA later this year at the world cup.

      BardofAvon - 2011-03-20 08:26

Charlie, this wasn't a Final. Down boy.

      Rob - 2011-03-20 19:23

Charlie, one win and they the best side in the world? Pathetic comment

      Schumi - 2011-03-21 15:44

It never sucks to be a bull, we get to go home after each game and look at a trophy cabinet reflecting a decade of being the best ... what do the stormers have? One unimportant match at the start of the Super season? You people are so quick to jump on the Blue Bulls success, that by the time you guys need to close the deal you choke ... I sincerely hope that the Stormers and Sharks actually materialize something for once ... but truthfully the crusaders will dominate this year.

  • Karoobloed - 2011-03-20 05:28

I am a long time Stormers/WP supporter, but take no pleasure in an RSA beating another RSA team in a competition involving other countries. Let's reserve our glee for when our teams beat Aussie and NZ teams. Let us reserve our petty parochialism for Vodacom Cup time. Grow up guys. F

      praxis - 2011-03-20 08:39

Amen! I read all these comments and I cringe at the vindictiveness of it all. You're absolutely right karoobloed. I am a Stormer but when our teams play overseas I cheer for them because they are South Africans and we are a band of brothers, or so i'd like to think.

  • Muzi Msimango - 2011-03-20 06:08

Is Jaco Pretorius Better than the younger and more committed dippernaar NO!!!!!!!!!!!He is a big weaklink is o dippernaar's time has come now hive hi a chance ludeke. The bulls are messing up with brummer's development poor player management that was embarrasing sending brummer at 13 OMG.Boshoff can not even kick aslso send brummer back to vodacom cup rugby look at lionel cronje he is gaining confidence at vodacom cup level. The loose forwards are all too light weight.. Start to build now whoever wants to leave they can all pack their bags......we need players who want to play for the bulls....olivier....and the old men like victor are the past....Call up CJ stander ...marnus schoeman....atleast rossouw de klerk tried.Farns Ludeke is getting exposed badly that is why he failed with the cats big time. Where is Heyneke Meyer and when is this varsity cup finishing we nned heynek as head coach

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-03-20 08:08

@Muzi - I am a huge Lionel Cronje fan. The kid was hard done by last year when our Management insisted on playing Willem De Waal the entire Currie Cup. Gary van Aswegen of course played 10 for our U/21's (so he had plensch more playing time last year coming into this season). Lionel is a prodigous talent & but seemed to have fallen out of favour after that "night club parking lot" indident last year just before the Stormers overseas tour. However, the kid has been lighting up the field as fullback for our VC team, 4 weeks on the trot. I know he prefers to play 10, but playing 15 in the VC has been very good for him. Won't be long before he is brought back into the S15 squad - I hope. Conrad Jantjies (even though still injured-supposedly) is not the same player he was before that horrendous injury. I would never start with him, so there is a "slight gap" for Lionel. Aplon as we know can play on the wing quite happily. All in all - our depth down here (thank you Nick Mallett for getting the ball rolling before leaving for Italy....) It has taken time - but if you look at the players we have IN form in the Vodacom Cup, as well as in our Match 22 - our coaches are in a pretty fortunate position at present. That is what one calls a "succession plan".

  • SAFFA-CAT - 2011-03-20 07:04

I told you chaps that Elstadt was HUGE.....and the answer I got from most was :"Lamb to the slaughter" - yeah right :) And PS: For any Bulls fans STILL in denial re: the USELESS Bulls loose trio, watch the game again.....Spies proves me correct WEEK in and WEEK out.....yes some still refuse to see this? DUANE YOU JUST KEEP HAMMERING THEM ALL....

      BardofAvon - 2011-03-20 08:27

Saffa.... Yes, we have problems. And we know it. Believe you me, we know it.

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-03-20 08:44

@Shakie Spear :) - It seems as though the Bulls are unable (or unwilling) to change their gameplan for starters? And the really worrying thing about this (as many of us already mentioned last year in the Bok season) is that THIS inability to change or UNWILLINGNESS to change, has huge influence on the Springbok's performance(misfiring performances) as well...This worries me senseless WC year! And Morne Steyn (when he was Bulls 2nd choice 10 behind Liefling) used to RUN! I feel all his running has been coached out of him, by the Bulls management & The Bok management - and he can't seem to regain it...Which is why Lambie & Grant would be my Bok 10's. But nothing is going to change in the Bok setup & we are going to try and defend the WORLD CUP with this same ineffective/outdated gameplan the Bulls are using now....(using many out of form or "never have beens" to implement it..)

      molefeP - 2011-03-20 18:34

Elstad had a really good game! But I cannot agree with you about Vermeulen. He is just another Currie Cup player. As for the Bulls loose trio... I cant think of anything to say that would do justice to just how pathetic they where. All the usual suspects. Fourie Dup who is more interested in waving his arms and kicking the ball away than in playing rugby, WO and JP are just laughable.. In fact, only one of my Bulls can hold his head up. Guthro showed once again that he is by far the best prop in the country at the momemnt. He bent Brock Harris AND CJ. In fact the referee let the Stormers get away with murder in the front row. That said, the stormers gave a masters class in hooking! I can just say, Well done Stormers, shame on you my Bulls! Very close to the 14 point spread I predicted before the game.

  • Claude - 2011-03-20 07:11

Is age catching up with the Bulls? For once I had no gripes with the Ref. If he carries on with the consistency like that he will soon be the seasons top ref.

  • sessisie - 2011-03-20 08:12

I am no Stormer’s fan, but having said that I must congratulate them on a well deserved win. They were clearly the better team. There is no substitute for attitude, skill, hard-work, talent, putting your body on the line, etc. Experience (i.e. being too old, too slow, too arrogant, and too complacent) can become a very serious liability as the Bulls proved once again. I have been predicting that this is going to happen since early last year. This is a part of the human condition. If you have proven yourself once; you will be in demand long after your sell by date. The onus is on you to retire when you reach that date. Quite a number of our senior players are way behind their respective due dates – Matfield, Spies, John Smit, etc. This situation promises serious problems for the Boks during the coming World Cup.

      BardofAvon - 2011-03-20 08:28

Houwing at his floral, loquacious best again. Why say something in one sentence, using a verb, a noun and an adjective, when you can rather embellish it into a clunky, garrulous paragraph? Are you paid by the word for writing this stuff, Rob? Oh, by the way, I'm very pleased that the Stormers beat the Bulls.

  • RJ - 2011-03-20 09:02

The Bulls Had a Bye, So they should have been rusty, I still think that 1st penalty the bulls got on the half way line, they should have gone for the line out, because that miss did not help Morne's confidence. Must say that was a great try from the Bulls Basson's pace and skill left Poolman and Aplon on the Back foot. Habana you beauty almost saved that try, great Payback for Basson with a similar score. That suit that Coach AC had on told the tale he knew he was going to win. The Crusaders Hammerd the WARATAHS and they need at least 2 weeks to recover from that...The cheaters took full advantage...Same will happen to the Sharks and the Stormers Will do the same...

      Marie - 2011-03-20 09:26

      GraemeBB - 2011-03-21 10:11

No watanana - I dont give everyone stick, just a few big mouths, and especially you. Your posts are hardly ever relative, just hot air and insults - in your small, little car. • TheDuck - 2011-03-20 12:07

The Bulls are lacking something I like to call INSPIRATION! Victor is a terrible captain. Deon Stegmann is a liabilty of gigantic proportions. Seems that only Bakkies was trying to get the team going throwing his all. At least our wings are top class. I'm a bad loser so i'm gonna put this out there - Stormers still haven't won a trophy in 11 years.

      RJ - 2011-03-20 12:15

      Great time to start

      GraemeBB - 2011-03-20 12:58

I like you Duck - Pappa Smurf can come learn about standing by his team from you. I agree with you that there is a lack of inspiration and commitment. Hard times for us boet, but we are still Bulls.

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-03-20 14:41

You need to see a quack(one that deals with illnesses of the mind)....QUACK.

      rugby_guru - 2011-03-20 16:11

Papa dumbass wont learn anything, he isnt the most educated person in the world. Papa, howa your mother doing.

      Pappa Smurf - 2011-03-20 16:15

Graeme, I didn't desert my team. I just think they sucked big time last night. Don't you agree?

      GraemeBB - 2011-03-21 10:29

Must agree Pappa, I was cursing the whole game - but it is hard enough to see it, and then hear it from some of these people. We are the "DOM BULLTRILLE", and this gives us an excuse to quote TheDucks last comment. Just saying.

  • GraemeBB - 2011-03-20 13:06

Enough about the rugby - how well is the cricket going, hey?

  • Christiaan - 2011-03-20 13:39

Where is ZIPIT? He with Alwyn & the senior Bulls as well? Zip23 - March 19, 2011 at 10:57 Report comment Will be funny to see the decrease of comments from the Stormbarian fans after they get a proper beating by the Bully boys this evening. Bit like Gadaffi yesterday, at 14h15 he threatens the world, and 15 minutes later announces a ceasefire. Only another 8 hours of listening to the stormer fans.Cant wait for this to end

      rugby_guru - 2011-03-20 16:09

Mwhahahhahhha, dont worry about those losers.

  • Bundy - 2011-03-20 15:05

Where is that groot bek Alwyn (Dooswyn) now. Well done to the stormers i did'nt think they were going to win but loved every moment of the game. The Bulls are in for a hard season unless they make a big plan, they still have to travel. But to give the bulls a break with supporters like Dooswyn it cant be easy.

Hi SIFCAT,,,,,i Thought we were playng the Stormers, but lets be honest Keith Brown were well paid by the assholes from the Cape AKA Stormers to osrcestrate a win,But this was expected from a team that suck so much that they have to rely on a ref to assist them .But i will enjoy it when they are on the wrong side of a wistle when it matters,,,,Last week the Highlanders were on the wrong end as were the Lions the previous week,,,,,,,,,i hoped i would never live to see the day that the result is established by bribing a ref,,no other reason will make sense for the way the Bulls were victimised at the break downs....and Habana,s try ,,,two meter before the kicker,,,,,new aplication of the law,,,Stormer and Keith Brown style,,,,,Well done Stormers if cheating makes you feel like winners it says a lot of your mentality,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I will be the first to congratulate the Stormers if they deserved it,,,,,,

      Oukoos - 2011-03-20 16:37

      SST - 2011-03-20 16:43

Hi Alwyn If you get the chance to see the game again, everthing and you are able to rewind and replay the parts where a lot of questions were asked by Mattfield and other Blue Bulls you might want to retract your statement about the Bulls being done in last night. I also had a few questions regarding the penalties called by Keith Brown, but when I actually watched the game game again I have to say that Kieth Brown was very good, stricked and fair in his decisions. The Stormers was the best team on the field last night. Well done to them.

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-03-20 16:54

Oh dear.....Alpyn is far more delusional than originally thought. As I am a caring and responsible citizen, I am going to launch the "F@rk The Bulls - Save Alwyn first" fund. Donations can be made at your nearest PEP stores (use the tin cans provided....) Alwyn - this comment of yours has got to be the most amusing I have encountered - EVER. Thank you.

@Saffa,can you believe the k@k this prick,Al weer wyn writes, sore flippin loser of note,be gracious in defeat my friend,Bulls played one dimensional rugby, the one time they passed the ball to the wing they scored, every time meisiekind tried to cut inside or bash he's way through,2 or 3 stormers were waiting,as for Spies,I need not say anything..........,Alwyn,your mate Jaco even admitted they were k@k,Keith Brown did not have the best of games but still we were the better side,Elstadt you beauty, big future awaits him as well as De Jongh, brought the spark back into the line.I think if I recall it, I called Habana to sore the winning try in the corner and the left corner to,lucky he dropped the ball twice with the open tryline and Grant missed those kicks, otherwise we would have put 40 passed you, enjoy the victory to the Stormers supporters,Bulls, time to change the game plan and wasn't Queen Viv and DuPreez at there moaning best!!!!!!!!!

      CliffBradley - 2011-03-20 17:35

Nee wat , jy bly maar n doos , , , Pappa Smurf , beter jouself distansieer van daai nar !!!

      CliffBradley - 2011-03-20 17:38

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-03-20 18:06

@Cliff and co. All we can do for Alwyn now is contribute to the fund.....50c here, 30c there and we will have him strapped to the Electroconvulsive Shock therapy gadget in NO TIME. I can even arrange for a little visit from a few of the Stormer boys.....Duane and Rynhardt would be ideal for one of the these "social responsibility visits"..... Sigh, its always sad to see someone fall like this....

      Ross - 2011-03-21 23:47

Haha Alwyn good one... everyone else can see the bulls are a has been team. They arent victimised at the breakdown, they were simply outplayed and had to resort to dirty tactics, which the ref picked up

  • gooinat - 2011-03-20 17:33

Great sporting weekend,Cape Cobras won the Pro 20,SA beat Bangladesh and of course.......wait for it........Stormers klapped the Bulls, wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-03-20 17:41

Incredible sporting weekend my friend.....Cape Cobras(I was there, was incredible! Levi should whack Alwyn one - for a 6) Then all the arrogant ones saw their jacks....The Pakis did the Aussies over, The Irish made Ashton cry (loved that!!!), and then of course the Avatards were manshamed Pollsmoor style.... I did brilliantly on Superbru as well :) I had the Chiefs, Force and Stormers (no-one could have seen the Cheetahs coming.....) so I kicked butt in my Superbru pools. Never minds the Proteas bashing Banga yesterday.....all our bowlers in form (Lopsy was awesome) heading into the QF's. Life, she is GOOD :)

  • ClifffBradle - 2011-03-20 19:05

The Bulls still are and will always be the best SA team. The Stormers were lucky and will probably loose 4 out of the next 6 games. What a bunch of arrogant idiots they ar

      CliffBradley - 2011-03-20 21:48

SAFFA-CAT: You know it's not me , I am always fussy about spelling & grammar - Thx

  • Bundy - 2011-03-20 19:17

Oh now the ref is too blame, Jeez bru you are a real peach. The bulls were simply outplayed and they are not playing very well. I suppose when you and your buddies ( if you have any) watched the game in the trailor park in Danville so its hard to get a complete perspective of the game. Oh and i showed my wife your awesome picture and its the most she's laughed in a long time so thanks for putting her in a great mood. Just a reminder Bulls 2 home games 2 loses, Dooswyn still a doos.

  • najanivea - 2011-03-20 20:18

Prooooooooooooooooovince...hahahahahaha the farmers are on their way out big time. Scary though that the bulk of the bok team is in nthe Bulls and they bare looking WELL ,past their time. BIG loss for dutchman arrogance. GREAT to watch

      Jan Nieuwoudt - 2011-03-21 01:37

@najanivea. Lyk my jy is nog in die AB oorlog vasgevang. A guy like you (and 80% of the other guys that post here) are a disgrace to any team they support. I'm surprised that Sport24 doesn't ban a lot of you guys from posting on this site. Visvoet. Jy is 'n stem des roepende in die woestyn. Stormer ondersteuner.

  • buka001 - 2011-03-21 07:37

I was at Loftus, would like to thank the Bulls supporter who hit me from behind and then pushed me over, when I stood up to see Habana's try. Surprisingly he didn't hit any of his fellow Bull's supporters who stood up when Basson scored. Thank you for living up to the sterotypical idea of what a Bulls supporter is. Your common, trailer park trash mentality shone through on saturday. I am not sorry for your lose. Neither could I do anything to help it. Hitting me only showed how pathetic and childish the Bull's supporter base is. The mentality and actions of that old man only served to confirm what I have always seen and heard of Bull's supporters. Well done oom, you showed that the Bull's supporters are childish infantile individuals who when faced with a lose, resort to aggresion and violence, just like idiotic, brainless cavemen. Thank you for hiting me. The satisfaction that I felt knowing that you had to hit me to feel good about your team's lose can only show just how sad, lonely and pathetic you are. I hope for your sake it made you feel like a "real man" as I am sure you couldn't get it up any other way.

      SAFFA-CAT - 2011-03-21 09:16

@Bula001 - mate you should have thrown the old bastad off the stands.....spear tackle throw. (That type of thing is legal at Loftus...) Were you on the East Stand by any chance?

      buka001 - 2011-03-21 09:51

Surprisingly I was on the western stand. I was told the people were more civilized there.

      Ross - 2011-03-21 23:49

Are you serious??? my sharks supporting uncle was also hit on the east stands 2 years back... they still up to their tricks i see

      rugby_guru - 2011-03-22 07:42

buka001: don't get upset about it, we are talking about trailer park trash scum.. Can you expect them to act any other way, they are so brain dead and one track minded, do you expect them to have the intelligence of an upstanding Stormers supporter.. PS I am on even ground here, I am a sharks supporter, but I see it as clear as day, those brandy drinking, overweight, single minded dumbasses, don't have the brain capacity, look at Bakkies he is a prime example, he can't handle the fact that he can't beat a team in Rugby he made us lose our first match in the Trinations because he is such a nob, now this is the same with all the bulls supporters, they really not that sharp, they think they have the speed of cage fighters with those fat stomaches and washed out faces... Don't fret it, I understand..

      Stormer4eva - 2011-03-22 08:54

Would you like to see my chin - 8 Stiches for cheering the WP on when they beat the Ntvl at Loftus - They are 99% thugs

  • Peter Smith - 2011-03-21 09:34

Stormers jou lekka ding!!!! Bulls will never be the same again!!!

  • skywalker - 2011-03-21 10:15

Bulls sucking the hind tit...Lions to win at Loftus!

  • skywalker - 2011-03-21 10:25

Just to clear things up...Stormers 8 Bulls 7 Drawn 1 The south is on top!

  • Francoise - 2011-03-21 13:03

Must say I would be lying if I said I did not enjoy how quickly the Loftus faithfull can clear fortress Loftus after a loss like that. Sitting there watching I had the impression that the Bulls were bullied at the breakdown and Wynand Olivier still doesnt realise there are 14 palyers arround him and some times maybe he should pass the ball. But having said that I believe the stormers season is still in its infancy and the game against the sharks in my opinion will be the accid test on if they have made a step up from 2010. To the Bulls fans I wouldnt be too worried, the fact is its early in the season and once FdPreez is back in rolls royce form youl see a change arround besides the Bulls will always be competitive!! To the Storm thanks for making my long weekend great lets hope this is the begining of a great season !!!!Province !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • weyer.erik - 2011-03-22 08:46

You know what i am a very big bulls supporter but this weekend was just so disapointing the heading is right the stormers did bully them. its one this to loose but still put up a big fight, we just laid back. Guys like Spies,Olivier,Pretorius,Potgieter,Stegman,Steyn they were useless. The only guy on the field actually tackling is ChilliBoy, the just grab a jersey and hope the guy goes to grond. Spies can't touch a ball without knoking it. Congrats Stormers
