Cape Town - The Stormers have boosted their chances of a home Vodacom Super Rugby semi-final with a comfortable victory over the Rebels on Melbourne on Friday.
The Stormers won 40-3 after leading 16-3 at half-time.
The Stormers scored five tries through wing Bryan Habana, flyhalf Kurt Coleman, centre Jaque Fourie, replacement No 8 Nick Koster and centre Jean de Villiers. Coleman added two conversions and three penalties for a personal haul of 18 points, while replacement Earl Rose added a conversion as well.
The Rebels replied with a penalty by No 10 Julian Huxley.
The Stormers picked up a full-house of five points for their victory to strengthen their lead atop the South African Conference. They also moved into second place in the Overall standings.
The Rebels left empty-handed and remained bottom of both the Australian and Overall log respectively.
In next weekend's Round 17 action, the Stormers host the Bulls in Cape Town, while the Rebels travel to Canberra to face the Brumbies
