Garrin Lambley

Cape Town - The Stormers have boosted their chances of a home Vodacom Super Rugby semi-final with a comfortable victory over the Rebels on Melbourne on Friday.

The Stormers won 40-3 after leading 16-3 at half-time.

The Stormers scored five tries through wing Bryan Habana, flyhalf Kurt Coleman, centre Jaque Fourie, replacement No 8 Nick Koster and centre Jean de Villiers. Coleman added two conversions and three penalties for a personal haul of 18 points, while replacement Earl Rose added a conversion as well.

The Rebels replied with a penalty by No 10 Julian Huxley.

The Stormers picked up a full-house of five points for their victory to strengthen their lead atop the South African Conference. They also moved into second place in the Overall standings.

The Rebels left empty-handed and remained bottom of both the Australian and Overall log respectively.
