Cape Town - Western Province and the Stormers are reportedly hunting the services of Cheetahs and Springbok scrumhalf Piet van Zyl.
According to a report on Die Burger's website, rumours are doing the rounds that the WP Rugby Union has its sights set on signing the livewire 23-year-old, who made his Springbok debut against Scotland two weeks ago.
With Dewaldt Duvenage heading to Perpignan in France, Louis Schreuder and Nic Groom remain as the two senior scrumhalves in the province.
Groom looks to have fallen out of favour with the Stormers coaches after a horror performance against the Cheetahs earlier this year, and Schreuder has emerged as the top scrumhalf in recent matches.
Schreuder is expected to again wear the No 9 jersey when the Stormers host the Cheetahs at Newlands on Saturday. This will see him come face-to-face with Van Zyl in a battle that could in all likelihood turn out to be a trial for the Stormers No 9 jersey for next season.
The clash at Newlands kicks off at 19:15 on Saturday.
