Stormers expect 'titanic' battle

2012-04-04 16:26

Cape Town - The Stormers are bracing themselves for another titanic battle as they prepare to face top New Zealand team, the Highlanders, in Dunedin on Saturday.

The top-of-the-table Stormers are coming off a massive game against the Bulls last week, which they won 20-17 at Newlands, and have flown halfway around the world but Coetzee is confident the players are fully focussed.

“The Highlanders are the best team in the New Zealand conference, there is no time to relax. Our focus is solely on Saturday.

"We expect nothing less than a titanic battle from the Highlanders. They are only two points adrift on the overall log and will be giving it all - it’s going to be another massive one.

“Having only settled in Queenstown yesterday (Tuesday), we have a short week and turn-around, but we are based in a beautiful part of the world which really assists recovery and our ability to prepare mentally and physically," Coetzee told the Stormers website.

Coetzee on Wednesday made one change to the starting line-up that beat the Bulls, with Frans Malherbe moving into the starting XV and Brok Harris moving to the bench.

Kick-off is at 09:35 (SA time) on Saturday.

      Jan - 2012-04-04 21:15

En Saffa het puisies op sy boude.

      Saffa - 2012-04-04 21:25

      Simon - 2012-04-04 23:26

      20-17

      Saffa - 2012-04-05 00:20

@Simon Thanks to Craig. 3 Super trophies, how many do you have?

      Jco - 2012-04-05 13:22

Nee man, wat noem hul Kaapstad? Sies man!

  • Riaan - 2012-04-04 16:35

Come on Stormers!!! If we can win on Saturday against the no.2 team on the log in their back yard we will be sitting pretty for the rest of the Super 15 campaign.

      Skhona - 2012-04-04 16:42

True that riaan if stormers can cement this current perfomance no one can stand in their way. stormers forever!!!!!!!!!

  • Pieter - 2012-04-04 16:47

Stormers sal BAIE beter moet speel as in hul 5 vorige games!

  • malcolm.molver - 2012-04-04 17:02

Sorry Stormers, but the Highlanders will take this one. Will be very close though!

      Saffa - 2012-04-04 17:26

@Dr van Zul - would that be a similar 20 points to the 20 points the Bulls put over us last Saturday? If so, sing Hallelujah.

      Saffa - 2012-04-04 17:31

Saffa, see my other posts, Highlanders by 20 with a decent ref. Craig,Jonker or Mark Lawrence and it's a guaranteed Stormers win, they don't even have to pitch for the game.

      Jason - 2012-04-04 17:54

U know what I love about you bull supporters. Every week you drill the stormers with another loss and yet every week you have to eat your words. You watch, highlanders are going down in flames.

      malcolm.molver - 2012-04-04 17:57

Jayed, please don't insult me. I'm a Sharks supporter. I hate the Bulls just as much as you do.

      Saffa - 2012-04-04 18:15

@Malcolm Shame, I can see the 2007 Super 14 final wounds are still fresh and ouchy

      Saffa - 2012-04-04 18:16

Jayded Neutral ref = Highlanders by 20 Mark my words

      malcolm.molver - 2012-04-04 18:19

Saffa, more like the anger at how the Bulls were allowed to cheat their way to the title. If Steve Walsh had been sober, it would've gone the other way.

      Saffa - 2012-04-04 18:26

@Malcolm86 B.. B.. BA..BWA...BWAHA..... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Of cuz, blame the ref. What do you question about that day. Go check the Sharks try (by vd Berg), there were TWO knocks in that move, so the scoreline flatters you you idiotic little weasel

      malcolm.molver - 2012-04-04 18:32

Saffs, you're proving why Bulls supporters are hated so much. Verbally abusive, drunk woman bashers you lot are. That try was fair, unlike that Habana try. Bulls set a record for most number of transgressions at the breakdown.

      Saffa - 2012-04-04 18:49

@Malcolm So because you don't like the Bulls you reckon everyone else dislikes them? Not too much between those weird ears of yours. What was wrong with the Habana try? And I'm not asking you, I'm telling you there were 2 knocks before the Sharks try. Go check it again, opionated plep

      Simon - 2012-04-04 18:57

      Skhona - 2012-04-04 18:58

I would rather put my money on the sea than supporting the inconsistent highlanders they always start as favourite but finishing in the bottom

      Saffa - 2012-04-04 18:59

@Simon Ja nee wat, ek vat hom rustig vandag, my boekhouer tel my geld, dit vat my hopeloos te lank.

      Christiaan - 2012-04-04 20:39

Saffa,jy is n "BOX"...Kan dit nie in Afrikaans se nie!!

      Saffa - 2012-04-04 21:26

@Jan Ek is maar 'n stoute rakker

      Christiaan - 2012-04-04 22:02

Saffa, dis beter om n vrugtevlieg te wees as n Miskruier!!!

      Saffa - 2012-04-04 22:06

Jy lyk soos 'n flippen gay aardwolf man. Moet ek vir jou geldjies aanstuur, lyk my jy's bietjie suur dat dit so goed gaan met my

      Simon - 2012-04-04 23:26

Dankie, totsiens

      Saffa - 2012-04-05 00:22

@Simon Onthou "smart" is Engels, nie Afrikaans

      PatPion - 2012-04-05 09:35

@Saffa Actually, 'smart' is an Afrikaans word as well. That's what you felt after your beloved team lost to the Stormers.

  • Paul - 2012-04-04 17:59

Stormers by 8. No bonus point for the Highlanders. @Saffa, I assume you are a Bulls fan? Your biggest problem is that you have the best wing in the competition, and you are playing him at scrum half - so sad! But that aside, do us all a favor and whip the Crusaders - send them home licking their wounds ok? Let ALL South African teams show these 'down under' woeses how to play rugby. One further point, if Coetzee is this good at finding amazing twenty year olds, maybe he should be sent out as a scout for the Bokke!! Go Storners!!!

      Troy - 2012-04-05 08:42

we dont need to be shown how to play rugby in nz...we have had your number for years.come back when you are world cup holders in under 20,womens,7s and mens rugby!!oh and continually ranked first!!which will be never!

      Jco - 2012-04-05 12:56

@Troy, I agree with your stats! Great that you comment out of from New Zealand! I am looking forward to see the game between the Highlanders and the Stormers. As a South African I hope for the Stormers and the Bulls against the Crusaders. We will meet again one day in the World Cup, but what about the coming tests this year?

  • Ian - 2012-04-04 22:36

Saffa, I am finding your offensive and really libellous remarks about referees extremely wearying. Do you honestly think any ref. would blatantly cheat and not be found out? If the answer is yes, then you know nothing about the refereeing fraternity. Enough, now, desist.

      Simon - 2012-04-04 23:21

      @ Saffa : zzzzzzz

      Saffa - 2012-04-05 00:22

      @Simon 3 Super trophies

  • Saffa - 2012-04-05 02:21

      Jco - 2012-04-05 13:02
