Cape Town - The Stormers and their bosses, the Western Province Rugby Union, are embroiled in a dispute over money.
According to Rapport
, the players are unhappy because they get paid less in match fees and win bonuses than should be the case.
The amount they receive is apparently less than a recent agreement between the South African Rugby Players' Association (SARPA) and the South African Rugby Employers' Association (SAREO) dictates. According to this agreement the players are entitled to R3 000 per game, as well as R3 000 in win bonuses.
The Western Province union apparently only pays the players R2 000 per game and an additional R2 000 for a victory.
The players have approached SARPA to help them with the case and a meeting has been scheduled for Monday with Rob Wagner, the managing director of WP Rugby.
Wagner denied that the union owes the players any money.
"It's a wrong assumption. We have a different contract with the players," he said.
