Stormers' Carr out for season

2012-05-13 18:52

Cape Town - Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has confirmed that eighthman Nizaam Carr will be out for the season after injuring his knee against the Cheetahs on Saturday.

Carr suffered the injury when entering a ruck in the first half of the clash at Newlands, which the Stormers won 16-14.

It was on Sunday established that Carr has torn the anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL) in his right knee.

Carr was replaced by Jebb Sinclair, the Canadian and London Irish player.

The Stormers are also missing loose forwards Schalk Burger, Duane Vermeulen and Nick Koster - all of whom are only due back after the June Test-match break.

any news about elstadt's possible ban?

      gustav.louw.12 - 2012-05-13 19:37

Elstadt is onskuldig bevind. So ook Ashley Johnson en Deon Fourie. Almal mag speel.

      Anton - 2012-05-14 08:26

Lyk my nie julle is so hard en taai soos wat jy voorgee nie.

With all the injuries to so many players, are we going to say this is a watered down S15? I mean its just so unfair that these teams have to battle with 4 of their best players out onjured.

  • Pomene - 2012-05-13 22:02

Lets go out and win the Vodacom Cup next saturday (WP) then Rohann Ktshoff and Nick Fenton Wells as well as Don Armand can be drawn up ............ we are okay watch my words !!!

  • Michael Fortune - 2012-05-13 22:12

    Where is Pieter Louwe?

      Pomene - 2012-05-13 23:03

Province did not offer him a contract this year - still there and we should bring him in - even if he did not play rugby for the past 8 months will he be better than Spies - guaranteed !!!

  • robbieyvonne.hutchison - 2012-05-14 01:10

oh Boy this doesn't paint a great pic for us... Injuries are plagueing us big time!

      Koos - 2012-05-14 01:46

Te veel snoek en papsak IMHO.

      Harold - 2012-05-14 05:59

      Pathetic conditioning.

  • Pieter - 2012-05-14 07:09

Nick Fenton-Wells is more than an able replacement. I believe he will play out of his skin when he gets a chance. He is also a fetcher and that's exactly what the Stormers need. Deon Fourie can also play as a loose forward so no need to panic just yet.

  • Anton - 2012-05-14 08:41

Stormers gaan meer as een Loosie nodig want ek verstaan hu besluit vandag eers oor Elstadt se straf
