Pretoria - The date has been set for Bulls lock, Wilhelm Steenkamp's Sanzar judicial hearing for allegedly headbutting Sharks flyhalf Butch James during their Super Rugby match at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
In a statement released by Sanzar, judicial officer, Jannie Lubbe deemed it necessary for Steenkamp to appear at the hearing.
"Following initial consideration by the SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Jannie Lubbe SC, Wilhelm Steenkamp of the Bulls will appear at a SANZAR Judicial Hearing after being cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.
"Steenkamp is alleged to have contravened Law 10.4 (a) - punching or Ssriking when he made contact with Sharks flyhalf Butch James at a ruck with his head."
The incident occurred in the 63rd minute of the match and went unpunished by referee, Jason Japhta.
Sanzar's Mike Heron will oversee the hearing, which will be held via a video conference at 09:00 (CAT) on July 8.
