Cheetahs lose Willie for 5 weeks

    2015-04-20 13:00

Cape Town - Cheetahs fullback Willie le Roux is struggling with an ankle injury and could be sidelined for up to five weeks, Netwerk24 reports.

Le Roux missed last weekend’s home Super Rugby loss to the Reds due to an agreement with the SA Rugby Union to rest top Springboks.

But the Springbok fullback has struggled with an ankle injury for a while now and will be rested until the injury heals properly.

Meanwhile, Le Roux’s replacement in last Saturday’s match, Coenie Van Wyk, has also picked up an ankle injury and will be out for up to six weeks.

To make matters worse for the men from Bloemfontein, flank Heinrich Brussow broke his arm against the Reds, and is likely to miss the rest of the competition.

The Cheetahs lost 18-17 to the Reds which left them last in the South African conference and 12th on the overall standings.
