Cape Town - The much-awaited clash between Sonny Bill Williams and Ma'a Nonu will not take place after the Crusaders centre pulled out with injury.
The two was set to face-off for the first time this season when the Hurrcanes meet the Crusaders in Wellington.
They are both fighting for the same spot in the All Black team, and this weekend's clash was eagerly awaited by many.
However, according to the website iafrica.com, the hip injury that forced Williams from the field in the victory over the Blues last week was worse than first suspected and a scan this week revealed that there was a small muscle tear on top of the deep bruising that he suffered.
Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder told The Press: "He [Williams] has been in a tremendous head space. I think he is a bit gutted; he just wants to put a good performance out on the field and his body is sort of letting him down at the moment."
Ryan Crotty will now take Williams' in the Crusaders midfield to take on Nonu - who will be playing his last game in a Hurricanes jersey, after not receiving a renewal to his contract.
