Sharks hold breath on Jordaan

2012-07-24 07:50

Cape Town - The Sharks are sweating over the availability of centre Paul Jordaan ahead of their Super Rugby semi-final against the Stormers at Newlands this weekend.

Die Burger reports that the Durbanites are nevertheless optimistic that Jordaan will recover from the hamstring injury he picked up against the Reds over the weekend. He formed a formidable centre partnership with Tim Whitehead and also scored a spectacular try in Brisbane to help his team win 30-17.

However, it looks less likely that fullback Patrick Lambie will recover from his ankle problems in time.

Coach John Plumtree also stressed that the travel factor can't be used as an excuse for the Stormers game.

"As the week progresses everyone will start feeling better and by Saturday they will be raring to go.

"We obviously have to be clever in our preparations. Everyone talks about the travel factor, but we knew we'd have to travel if we were to make the playoffs, the only issue was, whereto.

"I think it's a long road, but it's nice to come home and the guys are really upbeat about their prospects."

The clash at Newlands kicks off at 17:05 on Saturday.

Big blow if Jordaan is out, Bosman just on the same level.

I think the Sharks would be better going onto the field with 14 players rather than having Bosman on the team.

Didn't he try score a try on the 5m line on Saturday? Idiot

      nathan.davies.1257 - 2012-07-24 10:28

If u had half a brain ud see I meant he isn't on the same level as jordaan....lol what a tard.

Skinfaxi - Agreed. Bosman had two worthy games for the Sharks. One of them at the Bull Ring, so he can perform and be counted on at times, but I still question why they signed him. Tom - Correct, it was a premature ejacutry. Even Bismarck couldn't believe it. Nathan - Agreed, again he can perform at times, but Jordaan will simply have to undo the knots in his silk stockings and pitch for the game. BLACK . WHITE . DYNAMITE

I agree. Bosman has been a real waste of a signing. He is nowhere near the level of Whitehead and Jordaan and Steyn. This is going to be an epic clash. Sharks Forever!!!!!!!!

You heard Plum, travel is no excuse. Hope the boys do get time to get over the travel though, it is tiresome. Looking forward to Marcell and Co creating HAVOC. BLACK . WHITE . DYNAMITE

Bosman lost his rythm and tripped. It happens. I am talking about his knock-ons, missed tackles and lack of understanding of the offside rule that gives away penalties. I don't know what Jake white saw in him.

who has half a brain? i half a full one, i just use 1% of it idiot

      hans.himmler.7 - 2012-07-24 14:47

I think the answer is he is beyond his peak, if he ever had one. Perhaps a shadow of Jannie De Beer, I don't know. Never personally liked him as a rugby player, sure he is a great guy off the field. He did perform when it mattered, previous S15 season at the Bull Ring, where we eliminated the Bulls. His contribution was key, and performance was actually great, hence he can be counted on, but for the magnitude of the Stormers game and his inconsistency, he needs to be confined to the bench.

Sigh, ur making it very evident Tom. Not even fun arguing with someone of ur....\Intelligence\.

Granted the Stormers did top the log but I find it fascinating that they haven't scored a four-try bonus point the entire season. At some point the Stormers attacking failings will catch up with them and the Sharks will be coming to Cape Town on a massive high. I thought our loose trio was world-class on Saturday (I was at Suncorp) and Jordaan injected some pace into our centres that has been lacking for a while. @isak.visser, I think one 'here we go Stormers' would suffice. After that, try add some value! Sharks for a 4 point win on Saturday, to meet the Crusaders in Christchurch a week later.

The worst year on record for Shark Attack in South Africa was 1998, when 15 incidents were recorded. All took place in Cape waters; one was fatal and a further five resulted in serious injury. As the previous highest total was nine in 1994, there was much speculation in the media as to the reason for this marked increase. A popular scapegoat was the burgeoning white shark viewing industry, as Carcharodon Carcharias was responsible for all six serious attacks in 1998. BLACK . WHITE . DYNAMITE

Some Sharks, such as the Great White (Carcharodon Carcharias), Tiger (Galeocerdo Cuvier) and Zambezi (Carcharhinus leucas), are aggressive species. They are equipped with razor-sharp teeth and wide mouths and are capable of causing considerable damage with little effort. BLACK . WHITE . DYNAMITE
