The DHL Stormers achieved three victories against the Toyota Cheetahs, three over the MTN Lions, and one win against the Vodacom Bulls during their last 10 matches against SA opposition in Cape Town. However, the only team who have had their number at home during this period has been the Sharks.
The Durban team is currently in second position in the South African conference with 34 points, three behind the DHL Stormers (37) who are in first place. However the Sharks could claim pole position in the SA conference with a victory on Saturday if history is to continue its recent trend at DHL Newlands.
The DHL Stormers have conceded three defeats from their last 10 home matches – two against the Sharks back in 2007 (36-10) and in 2009 (20-15). The Cape team’s other defeat was against the Vodacom Bulls (16-9) during the 2008 Vodacom Super 14.
The Sharks comprehensively defeated the DHL Stormers during the 2007 competition after scoring five tries during their 36-10 victory. In 2009, the Durban team toppled the hosts during the opening round of the Vodacom Super 14 in that particular year.
