Cape Town - The Sharks have confirmed that loose forward Ryan Kankowski, 26, has signed a six month contract with the Toyota Verblitz club in Aichi, Japan.
According to the Sharks website, the union has agreed to release him in order to gain experience in the east.
He will join his new team-mates from 6 August 2012 until 16 February 2013, allowing him to be back in Durban to rejoin the Sharks for their 2013 Super Rugby campaign.
Kankowski will feature for the Boks in the final Test against England at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday where he will provide loose forward cover on the bench.
Sharks CEO Brian van Zyl wished Kankowski well in his endeavours.
“We wish him the best of luck in Japan and look forward to welcoming him back to Durban upon completing his playing commitments in Japan, when he will continue to represent the Sharks with distinction.”
