Cape Town - The Sharks have confirmed that assistant coaches Grant Bashford and Hugh Reece-Edwards will take over the team's coaching duties for the remainder of the Super Rugby competition.
This comes after coach John Plumtree left the team with immediate effect on Tuesday, following his meeting with new CEO John Smit.
Smit recently appointed Brendan Venter as Director of Rugby at the union. He also said there would be a head coaching position, which is expected to be filled by former Sharks flank Brad MacLeod-Henderson.
MacLeod-Henderson is only expected to take over for the Currie Cup, which means Bashford and Reece-Edwards will share the coaching responsibilities until the Sharks complete their Super Rugby campaign.
In a statement released to the media on Wednesday, the Sharks said: "With the exception of John Plumtree, the Sharks coaching structure will remain unchanged for the remainder of the Super Rugby tournament. Assistant coaches Grant Bashford and Hugh-Reece Edwards will assume the main coaching responsibilities for our remaining three games."
The Sharks host the Blues at Kings Park on Saturday (14:50 kick-off).
