Sadie to become a Cheetah

2012-07-20 08:30

Cape Town - Bulls centre Johann Sadie is apparently heading for Bloemfontein to continue his rugby career at the Cheetahs.

Volksblad was reliably informed that Sadie has already agreed to become a Cheetah.

This comes after news broke on Thursday that Sadie had asked to be released from his contract at the Bulls.

Sadie has had an indifferent season since joining the Pretoria side from the Stormers at the end of last year. He's struggled to hold down a spot in the Bulls' 22-man squad after a season plagued by injury and a dip in form.

The Bulls management have apparently given the 23-year-old their blessing to “look at other options” ahead of a possible release from his contract.

It is believed he's unhappy with the lack of game time he has received this season.

Wonder what went wrong at the Bulls... Any way. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay at the Cheetahs. They should be one of the favorites for winning the Currie Cup this year

      jono.qmann - 2012-07-20 08:54

      bulla.loftus - 2012-07-20 09:23

Read it again Papsak Isak, He said... "They should be one of the favorites".

      Citroes - 2012-07-20 09:25

Uhm Isak - you've not won anything for 12 years... perhaps you should keep quiet till you actually win something! Even the Lions have a better record with cups in the last decade than your Pee Wee team.

      joachim.papenfuss.5 - 2012-07-20 09:35

      jono.qmann - 2012-07-20 09:55

@japjap...hy het gevra om te gaan! meskien was die coaching nie up toe scratch nie! meskien kan hy nie die bulle sien enige bekers wen nie of meskien was dit net omdat hy nie gelukkig daar was nie!

      peter.britz1 - 2012-07-20 10:18

Ha ha Isak, do the Weer Probeer even know what the CC looks like, it's beeeeen a loooooong time. Let me go way back in the annals of CC history. Ah here it is, the last time they WP managed to win a CC was in 2001! Yikes a decade drought!

      uwe.klopfer - 2012-07-20 11:13

@isak.... good luck on that one...why can your "B" team do it this year but not last ? This is the "B" that couldn't get it up last year...as this is the excuse used by sharks, bulls and weepee supporters for the lions winning it last year.. GO Lions...but UNLIKE a WP supporter I won't proclaim victory in advance...year after year after year after year after year...

      jean.rossouwsa - 2012-07-21 15:38

Nothing you BBH (Blue Bulls Hater) he did not perform, OK!

  • nielbenjamin.kidd - 2012-07-20 08:35

No suprise here. Get out while you can! End of an era.

  • bdgouveia - 2012-07-20 08:36

o boo hoo, couldnt make it as a Stormer nor a Bull now he gets demoted to the cheetahs. you just aint good enough buddy try plying your trade overseas

      koper.koos.1 - 2012-07-20 08:45

It is not that he could not make it. He was impatient. These young players want to earn hundreds of thousands of rands and just immediately walk into the starting line-up for a team. Morne Steyn had to wait his turn behind Derick Hougaard for some time.

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-20 09:04

      also, didnt really hit rucks

      DuToitCoetzee - 2012-07-20 09:14

koper.koos. that can be true and it will be therefore good to get exposed to the Cheetahs way of doing/attitude. It is always good for a youngster.

      francopeyper.vantollen - 2012-07-20 09:32

You right Tom. I never check this okie hitting rucks. wtf is he on the field for if he don't hit the rucks

Running with the Bulls, not that easy hey? You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting

      werner.coetzer.311 - 2012-07-20 08:50

Refering to 2 weeks ago when the bulls played the sharks: the bulls have been weighed, they've been measured, and they've been found wanting...

      bootman.bokke - 2012-07-20 08:57

They were weighed and measured but they found the result to be inacurate. They didnt take into consideration the new a......holes the sharks ripped them.

      maakdiebulle.almalbokke - 2012-07-20 09:12

Refering to the past 16 years, The Stormers, have been weighed, they've been measured, and they've been found wanting...

      maakdiebulle.almalbokke - 2012-07-20 10:04

      Like the Stormers 1997 ?

  • Jacques - 2012-07-20 08:38

Good on him- the Cheetahs' attacking play will suit him better, not to mention the more game time. All the best!

      DuToitCoetzee - 2012-07-20 09:15

      Good comment!

      hugo.naude - 2012-07-20 10:05

... and like the Cheetahs he cannot defend either ... match made in heaven!!

  • jeanpierre.dupreez.3 - 2012-07-20 08:40

  • bootman.bokke - 2012-07-20 08:47

I've got news for you Johann. Bloemfontein is only slightly better than Tshwane. You wont be happy there either. You're a Capetonian and no matter where in the world you go, you will always long to come home.

      christian.denyschen - 2012-07-20 09:37

Waar is tshwane?

      shooshyu.tu - 2012-07-21 14:24

he will probably only spend a year with the Cheetahs & then the Sharks will sign him.

  • jaco.deswardt.94 - 2012-07-20 08:47

  • shuabe.slamdien.7 - 2012-07-20 08:49

Great player.... a loss to the Bulls

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-20 09:06

      not really. please rephrase

      francopeyper.vantollen - 2012-07-20 09:34

No.. nobody is bigger then the team. This is how things work at the bulls. When your head gets to big for your boots then you get benched. Ego might be allowed at the mismanaged Stormers but Bulls don't roll like that

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-20 10:31

the stormers are fueled by ego they are an ego friendly place. but they seem to be producing their fair share of smug. that cloud of smug is going to roll over newlands next week and come back to bite them.

  • elrik.deale - 2012-07-20 08:52

4 of 5 in elke posisie. Huidiglik is daar 5 o/19 slotte ...

      maakdiebulle.almalbokke - 2012-07-20 09:02

O jealousy! thou magnifier of trifles

      boereroo.jackman - 2012-07-20 09:13

  • Ettiene - 2012-07-20 09:03

Guys it is the right move for him. The Bulls have better upcoming starts like Serfontein,Small-Smith, Janse van Rensburg to name a few.

      Taurus.Blue1 - 2012-07-20 09:10

      Agree 100% @WTF

      heinrich.vanjaarsveld.52 - 2012-07-20 10:17

No its not he aint worth a cheetah jersey let him carry balls or water anything please

      niel.walt - 2012-07-20 10:32

  • stefan.vosloo.33 - 2012-07-20 09:15

Well, this is actually a loss for the bulls. It would have been great if he had shown the patience and keep his words as in the beginning of the season when he said he felt different as what he did when he was at the stormers. Anyway goodluck Sadie

  • jacques.duplessis.566148 - 2012-07-20 09:15

      heinrich.vanjaarsveld.52 - 2012-07-20 10:15

      niel.walt - 2012-07-20 10:30

Sadie gan groot dinge doen by die cheetas!

  • jaco.prins.7 - 2012-07-20 10:22

Well if that Barbie Doll (olivier) was constantly chosen ahead of me, I'd also shove off, even if I had to take a pay-cut at the Cheetahs!

  • luke.sportify - 2012-07-20 10:55

Something fishy happening here, leaving after 8 months, sure he would of started in the Currie Cup Good move to the Cheetahs, he will favoured to start in all competitions

  • selma.botha.9 - 2012-07-20 11:20

Poor acquisition from the outset. Good luck at the Cheetas.

  • haydn.gawronsky - 2012-07-20 13:12

Good move. He'll do well at the Cheetahs.

  • Eddie.Minora - 2012-07-20 14:02

    goeie keuse Sadie!!!

  • francois.kloppers - 2012-07-20 15:30

He wasn't good enough to play for the Stormers and now the Bulls are letting him go. Maybe third time lucky at the Cheetahs? We'll see...

  • whusselmann - 2012-07-20 18:42

With Sadie between Goosen and Robert Ebersohn the Cheetahs is going to cause a lot of pain for the big unions. At last Sadie is now at a team where the people understand how a backline should operate. Sadie and Goosen will be playing together for the Boks soon. Only the Sharks and the Stormers will be able to contain the Cheetah centres.Bull centres will be blown away.

      koper.koos.1 - 2012-07-20 18:55

Dont know about Sadie, but Goosen definitely, that boy has gotten rugby genius written all over him

      koper.koos.1 - 2012-07-20 18:56

Sadie will play bok, but not as soon as Goosen

  • keithronald.wildschut - 2012-07-20 19:28

Seun kry jou kop reg jy't hope talent.

  • Jason - 2012-07-21 00:20

Welcome to Bloem, Sadie. Better make sure you're match-fit for the Currie Cup final.
