S15 odds preview - Week 11

Cape Town - This tournament has got to that stage where the boys and the men are now being separated! With some big scores in previous weeks one feels this trend could continue. One such game may be the Chiefs who take on the beleaguered Lions; another may the Bulls against the Rebels who have lost two crucial backline players. Always nice seeing a hiding, let’s just hope it is none of our sides who take the blow.

A closer look at Super Rugby, Week 11 action with Bet.co.za:

Friday's action:
(All kick-off's SA time)

Hurricanes v Blues (Wellington) – 09:35
Odds: Hurricanes 5/10 Blues 16/10

Despite having all their injured players back the Hurricanes lost convincingly last weekend against the Chiefs, this is after receiving a slaughtering from the Crusaders the previous week. They are experiencing a big dip of form, perhaps home advantage will be able to rekindle the pride and passion they played with earlier in the season. No side in the tournament has been as disappointing as what Blues have. One feels that the Blues may just click at the right time and there is no reason why it won’t be this weekend. The Sport24 multiple of the week - Blues win.
Prediction: Blues win by 3

Rebels v Bulls (Melbourne) – 11:40
Odds: Rebels 4/1 Bulls 9/50

The Bulls have the luxury of easing into their overseas tour with one of the easier games in the shape of the Rebels. The Bulls will attack the Rebels lackluster forwards with aggression and will be aiming for a bonus point. One gets the feeling that the Rebels dam wall may again burst with some vital players being lost with week. James O Connor and Jarred Saffy have been ruled out for extended periods through injury whilst Danny Cipraini terminated his contract this week. Although Stirling Mortlock makes reappearance it seems as it will make little change in the Rebels chances of winning. Sport24 multiple of the week - Bulls to win by more than 11.
Prediction: Bulls by 16

Saturday's action:
(All kick-off's SA time)

Chiefs v Lions (Pukekohe) – 09:35
Odds: Chiefs 1/20 Lions 10/1

Top of the table Chiefs take on second last Lions who have again made quite a few changes.  Both teams had contrasting performances last weekend as Chiefs cantered to a good win over the Hurricanes, and the Brumbies dominated the Lions from start to finish. Jake White has commented this week in the media stating it would be sad a side with as much tradition and ethos such as the Lions were to miss out on Super Rugby. It is important for the future of Lions rugby for them to start performing as soon as possible. However it is highly improbable that this weekend is the one they will do it.
Prediction: Chiefs by 15

Brumbies v Waratahs (Canberra) – 11:40
Odds: Brumbies 7/10 Waratahs 11/10

This will be a titanic battle as it the top of the Auzzie conference take on the current runner ups. Waratahs looked much improved last weekend against the Crusaders and although they have perennially started off quickly and then faded, there are strong signs that this season could be different! The Brumbies have been very impressive and will be content with their South African tour having picked up seven points. With places up for grabs for the Auzzie setup also expect nothing less than pure passion in this one. With home advantage and their current form the Brumbies should win this one. Sport24 multiple of the week – Brumbies win.
Prediction:  Brumbies by 4

Sharks v Highlanders (Durban) – 17:05
Odds: Sharks 7/10 Highlanders 11/10

Sharks will have to win their next five games on the trot to have a decent chance of making the playoffs. One more loss at home might well put an end to their playoff aspirations. The Highlanders have had an extremely successful season so far and somehow manage to win all the close ones. Their comeback win against the Cheetahs last weekend has been much talked about and the confidence levels will be at a high. If the Sharks let this one get close they will need to rely on fresh legs after last week’s bye to secure the win!.
Prediction: Sharks by 5

Cheetahs v Force (Bloemfontein) – 19:10
Cheetahs 35/100 Force 8/5

The Cheetahs really will be eager to bounce back after last week’s meltdown. They will still be wondering how they managed to lose that game. Like any professional outfit they will put it in the past and a solid win against the Force this weekend will help ease the scars. The Force one of the weaker sides in the tournament have experienced some drama this week with Will Genia seemingly interested to sign with them, but then ditched them at the eleventh hour to stay with the Reds. The star Wallaby loose-forward Ben McCalman has also been ruled out due to injury. The Cheetahs have injury woes of their own with Johan Goosen injured for an extended period, nonetheless if the Cheetahs play their open entertaining brand of rugby they should win this at a canter. Sport24 multiple of the week - Cheetahs win.
Prediction: Cheetahs win by 10

Sunday's action:
(All kick-off's SA time)

Crusaders v Reds (Christchurch) – 06:00
Crusaders 33/100 Reds 11/5

Although the Crusaders secured a bonus point win last weekend against the Waratahs, it somewhat flatters them. They were outplayed at stages and will need a stronger performance this weekend against the eve improving Reds. The Reds will take a lot of heart from their away victory against the Blues and have started producing the rugby that won them the Cup last year. However no Australian side has beaten the Crusaders at home since 2004. Robbie Fruen was in superb form last weekend earning man of the match and he will most likely again be the catalyst to break down the Reds defense. Although the Crusaders should win this game it is going to be a cracker! Make sure you tune in! Sport 24 multiple of the week - Crusaders win.
Prediction: Crusaders by 9

Bye: Stormers

Multiple of the week:

 - Blues to beat the Hurricanes
 - Brumbies to beat the Waratahs
 - Bulls to beat the Rebels by more than 11 points
 - Cheetahs to beat the Force
 - Crusaders to beat the Reds

Odds: 10/1
