Cape Town - The Stormers have welcomed the return to fitness of flank Michael Rhodes and wing Kobus van Wyk as they prepare to face the Lions in a Super Rugby clash at Newlands on Saturday.
According to the Stormers’ official website, Rhodes (hamstring) and Van Wyk (knee) will both be considered for selection against the Lions after being out of action for some time.
In further good news, centre Jaco Taute (knee) last weekend came through his fourth Vodacom Cup match in a row and will be considered for Super Rugby selection.
Coach Allister Coetzee welcomed the availability of the trio.
“It’s a headache (a good one of course), as I said last weekend… (but) who do you leave out now that everyone is fit and available? It’s those decisions we need to make in a tough week with the Springbok training camp on the go, too, with 19 of our players in the camp.”
Meanwhile, it was confirmed that hooker Scarra Ntubeni could miss two weeks of rugby, after suffering a grade one calf muscle tear early in his team's 42-12 Super Rugby win over the Cheetahs last weekend.
“It’s a blow, especially in a specialist position like hooker and hopefully he will be available for the Sharks game. However, his injury has opened the door for one of Mikey Willemse or Neil Rautenbach to put their hands up,” continued Coetzee.
Saturday's clash at Newlands kicks off at 17:05.
