Cooper stars in Reds win

Canberra - Wallabies flyhalf Quade Cooper kicked 26 points as the Reds beat the troubled Brumbies 31-25 in their Super Rugby match on Saturday.

Cooper landed his first penalty in the second minute and went on to kick eight from nine attempts to keep the Reds ahead, though the Brumbies scored four tries to one.

Cooper kicked seven penalties, a conversion and a drop goal to ensure the Reds retained control of a tight match that could have turned in favour of the Brumbies had it not been for his steadiness and accuracy.

The win was the Reds' first over the Brumbies in Canberra since Super Rugby began in 1996 and added to the Brumbies’ burden after the sacking of coach Andy Friend in the wake of last week's loss to the Melbourne Rebels.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...
